If Maddy's blood was found in the hire car, then surely the Portuguese police should be looking for the person who had the car when Maddy disappeared?

Something that puzzles me is how can they have identified a blood sample as Maddy's without having some of Maddy's actual blood to compare it to? Where could they have got some of her blood for a comparison? Or is there some other way they could identify it as hers?
I don't for one second think the parents had anything to do with her disappearance. There's no way they could have disposed of a body unnoticed, bearing in mind the intense media coverage - they've hardly been left unwatched for any length of time. I suppose it's an easy option for the police to accuse them.

From what I read, Maddie is supposed to have cut her leg a short time before her disappearance, the blood is supposed to hve got on her clothes, and the suggestion is that the blood got in the car when the Mcanns were moving some of her clothes.
That in itself is iffy enough, but what i'd like to know, is the British dog that smelt 'death' on Kate, just how long does the smell of death stay on a person.
Another thing, one of our neighbours is a police sergeant dog handler, and he says that sniffer dogs are only 40% suddessful, and even then, it when they smell something, it doesn't mean that that person is guilty, which is what the Portugese police are saying.
