I do not understand how Maddie's parents are allowed to keep the twins when they are official suspects for the death of their other daughter.

What if all of a sudden something happens to one of the twins? Wouldn't we all be asking why they were left with supposed child killers ?

er - cos they're suspects. Innocent until proven guilty and all that??!

If they are suspects in a child murder case then social services should remove them.

If they were accused of sexual abuse, then social services would remove them , so why should it be different for being a suspect in a murder?

Ahhh yes, the next thing to kick the couple with when there down- nice move!

Don't misunderstand me please. I am not accusing them, but i still believe that if they are suspects in a child murder case, then they should not be able to keep the twins. God forbid anything else happens.
Actually, i can see where you're coming from. I'm not convinced they had anything to do with it mind, but you make a good point and the comparison with a sex abuse case is well made.

That's a thinker...
If they killed Madeleine, which I personally don't believe they did, they'd be truly idiotic to harm a second child wouldn't they?
I think you'll find that 'Arguido' or 'suspect' status has different connotations in Portugal.

Moreover, the twins are probably safer at the moment than they would be in foster care, given that the family are very much in the public gaze - not much could happen without the press getting in on the act.
And further IF they killed Madeleine (which I am also certain, they didn't) it was not murder but probably manslaughter (i.e not premeditated). The twins are therefore in the safest place possible.

Who is the safest airline to fly with?? The one that had the most recent crash. Same thing kind of.

You are right in a way, if they were actual suspects as the media here has kind of made out, then the other children would have been at the very least put on the at risk register.
I dont think they killed her either, even accidently. I think the police named them as suspects so they could ask more questions, if there was enough evidence against them they would have been charged.
They are going through the worst thing imaginable, loosing their little girl. I hope so much that she is found soon and i hope she isnt suffering wherever she is.

Once again ( sigh ). I AM NOT SAYING THEY DID HARM MADDIE. I just cannot understand why nobody else finds it strange that the their other kids are deemed safe while they are suspected of killing Maddie.
Well according to the latest news, Social Services are looking into the twins safety. I am not giving any opinons here, as it's is such a complex and tragic case. I don't think Maddie will be found alive, although it is my fervent hope.

I think it could be to do with the fact that they are both doctors. If it was your average single mum from a council estate then they would have gone into care.

OMFG, are you honestly saying just because they accidentally killed Maddie, that makes it alright for the other kids
For heavens sake !! These poor people have lost a daughter, they are being implicated as murderers, and to top it all you want their other children taken away from them. I know all about the ifs and buts of leaving her in the first place but this has turned into a witchhunt. I feel really sorry for the McCanns, of course they didn't murder Maddie, they made a bad judgement yes, but this relentless speculation is frightening. The hunt for the truth should be paramount of course but I feel that all this has taken over the search for the little girl.
I get that you are saying you don't want it to happen or are accusing them, Neil. It seems people don't understand hypothetical questions.

If you were suspected of an offense in this country would you have your children taking off you? I'm not sure sure..... surely you would have to be charged with it before children started getting taken away.

So if i was a father and was suspected of abusing one of my children, social services would take the other children away as they would be at risk?

All im saying is that i find it strange that as they are suspects in a child murder case.Do you not think the other kids should be deemed as high risk?

Why the difference,as both the above involve suspects in kids cases. Why should the outcome be any different.
I think it is unbelievable that anyone can for one minute think they have murdered their daughter.
They made a terrible misjudgement in leaving them alone, but they have paid for their mistake.
Why should they have their other children taken away from them. They are in no danger.
The police in Portugal appear to be clueless, and I think they are now accuseing Maddies parents to make it look as if they have solved the case.
The portuguese people just want the whole worldwide publicity to disappear so they can go back to taking money from anyone still stupid enough to want to go on holiday there.
