Almost John but not quite. It's actually called Myanmar, so that would account for why the BBC isn't calling it Miramar. Though I get what you were meaning! I think this is because so few people call it Myanmar and still think of it as Burma, so it saves them having to keep explaining themselves?
The Burmese Generals changed the name to Myanmar, to create a break with the past. However, as very few countries recognise the military dictatorship in place since the 1988 elections were overturned by the army, most countries still refer to Burma.
The UN Call it Myanmar, most of Western Europe us both, and the UK and US don't receognixe the authority of the military junta that took over and so still call it Burma
