But I wonder how many jokes there would have been if it were a bloke and a 13 year old..?
Wouldn't it have a lynch brigade forming?
Is it somehow okay because it's two females involved?

I agree Waldo. (I suspect a lynch brigade will still form though. It's still early yet).
Hence why I went for the serious comment of concern about the age gap.
I'm 28. I'm not entirely sure what I'd have in common with a 13 year old (male of female) so I guess it's not the witty conversation.
That said, the mother suspected something and allowed the girl to continue at the acadamy? That's not entirely sensible.
It sounds like at least one person has taken advantage of a young girl who appears confused about her sexuality.
If it was a man and boy I suspect that someone would be demanding the mans penis on a plate. And there wouldn't be a funny side.

What is described is not an affair, but child sexual abuse. In terms of age and power issues it is classic adult predatory behaviour. The gender of the offender and victim is irrelevant in terms of whether it is sexual abuse or not.
However female abusers are often portrayed in the press somewhat differently. I would suggest because some adult males actually think the idea of having been a teenager and being in a sexual relationship with an older women would have been the more like the Graduate, and many many find the idea of two women titilating. Patriarchary rules!

Rubes, I don't think it's a case of simple titilation actually, I think it might go a bit deeper.
It has always been very difficult for society to accept the idea of a woman as an abuser of children, (also killer of children and/or serial killer).
Women are supposed to love, cherish, nurture... all that malarky. The idea of a female paedophile is abhorrent in society. More so than a male paedophile.
Women are supposed to protect the children not prey on them. Hence it's always been a difficult one to report on.

As this women has not yet been convicted of this offence, no one has the right yet to pass judgement on her.
Even so, I agree that if this had been a man he would have already been labled a monstrous paedophile, and if it was left to the fairer sex they would already have all forms of unspeakable physical punishment set out for him to endure.
Having said this, if this woman is found guilty she should also be labled a disgusting paedophile, and send down to serve many years in prison. But somehow I don't think this will happen, because in this country for some reason a female is always treated more lenient than the male.

Perhaps the link below will come as somewhat of a suprise to her? Yes I know this is in America but women/mothers, just the same

Thank you for the article.
I was pointing out that women are supposed to do and the fact that society in general finds it harder to accept the idea of a woman as abusers/killers of children. Something which the article seems to have some agreement with.
'...We should detach from the idea of universal motherhood as natural and see it as a social response," Nancy Scheper-Hughes, medical anthropologist says.
Women in jail reported that no-one believed them when they said they wanted to kill their children. "There's a collective denial even when mothers come right out and say, "I really shouldn't be trusted with my kids."...'
I'm certainly not burying my hand in the same and saying it doesn't happen. But because of the traditional view of women as mothers it is all the more horrible to society when a woman kills/abuses children.
We find it terribly difficult to deal with.

I don't know about prison sentences. If anyone does I would welcome their input. I just tried to google it and couldn't get an idea of numbers of female to males in prison for abusing children and their sentences. I'd honestly be interested in the comparrison.
However, women who kill/abuse children tend to be portrayed as demons, sinister and less than human. Again I think because a woman committing this type of crime just doesn't compute to a lot of us. Myself included.

Interestingly though...I bet if it were a man abusing a 13 year old boy, you wouldn't get any 'pwoar, where can I watch that' remarks from gay men.
However, with straight blokes, as long as it's two females - it's all good stuff.
Even when one's a child.
I'm not having a go at straight blokes here...but there is an air of hypocrasy about this issue.
Lesbians = titilating, no matter what.
My my, isn't 'titilating' a hard word to spell when you can't be bothered to validate it through a spellchecker!

Thanks AOG.
Seems to be two types.
The predatory ones that I was thinking of when I answered and then the women who I guess must be suffering a very severe form of (post-natal?) depression.
There's a book I read recently regarding a relationship between a teacher and a pupil. It's called Notes on a Scandal I think. (Am 75% sure it's been made in to a film too). That was very good. Interesting perspective.
