Do you think this poor animal was being used for dog fights and deserved to die like this because it wouldn't fight maybe?

I don't necessarily agree with killing off these breeds entirely but I think you should have to have a special license to keep these dogs. Like a wild animals license. Special insurance and a separate area for these animals to live. I wouldn't have a tiger in my house and I certainly wouldn't have one of these as pets.
You are probably right about dog fight theory the problem is IF they catch the person responsible they smack his wrists and ban him from keeping a pet NOT ENOUGH they should drag him into the undergrowth and give him a taste of his own medicine this will not happen cause its against his HUMAN RIGHTS what about the poor bloody animal
That story and the two little paragraphs at the end almost made me weep. The mentality of some people never fails to disgust me, truly truly appalling.
To answer your question, if the dog was was butchered because it refused to fight, I can only think that maybe it's a blessing it's now dead (but God, what a way to go)- dog fighting is too barbaric to even contemplate.

My god, that was horrible. It breaks my heart that people can do this, and I can't think up a punishment fitting enough. Disgusting.
Also disgusting is the attitude of some people on the forum underneath, who have that "eye-for-an-eye" attitude...So it's OK to mutilate and murder a dog because it bit/fought? It's due to the cruel, vindictive nature of humans, not dogs, that incidents like this are so common.
I agree that some breeds are bred for certain things, and that if this isn't channelled it can be outleted in negative ways (my Collie tries to chase tractors, lawn mowers, street sweeping machines, mopeds, his own tail!), but people need to see past this and recognise that it's deed, not breed, that should mark a dog's character. If the dog had bitten/attacked, there are HUMANE ways of dealing with this-putting down, if necessary. There is NO justificiation for this maltreatment.

If you know the area concerned, it is a foul and inbred peasant suburb of Brighton. I will put nothing past the inhabitants of such a filthy estate.
Just out of interest this is the same park as the "Babes in the Woods" murder many years ago.
I hope the attacker dies as well. Preferably of a painful stomach disorder whilst crying for his equally foul mother.

There were dog fights going on down by the river where I used to live. I could hear it but couldn't see it. We called the police and they came out in force and with helicopters.
I don't know if they caught them though.
I hope that lovely dog died quickly.
Leela, you are so right about deed not breed.
and GS. Yes there should be licensing. I don't know why there isn't.
I used to look after an amazing American Pitbull. Soppy stoopid creature. Lived till he was about fourteen. The RSPCA vets adored him too lol.....
Oh Daffy :( I surely hope something appalling happens to that evilness....
Rev.... deterents??? impossible. Because of where these animals are bred.... (usually pikeys)
Hey millie :) I have to lol at the 'against human rights bit' I cant find the bit where it says you cant drag someone into the undergrowth...... :D
