England to the English MPs
What a good idea that the Conservative Party has suggested.......... No Scottish MPs should be able to vote on English affairs.
Quite right in my opinion as the English can't vote on Scottish matters and we have far too many Scots in Parliament who should go back to "their" country , especially Gordon Brown and his cronies.

This is absolutely the right thing to do - if English MPs aren't allowed to vote on matters only affecting Scotland then it absolutely stands to reason that Scottish MPs should not be allowed to vote on matters only affecting the English.
The new North South divide is no longer between the South and North of England it is now Scotland and England.
The Scottish are blessed, in addition to free tuition, free prescriptions, drugs available to them that aren't available to people in England and talk of free school meals for everybody, they are also subsidised by the English taxpayer.
Personally I'd rather we did cut all ties with them - let them be a completely independent nation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Scots: I love Scotland - Edinburgh, for my money, is one of the best cities in the world - and I am a regular visitor to Scotland as Mrs flop's family are all pretty much Scottish.

There are 56 Scottish MPs from Scotland. Of those, only 1 is Conserrvative. Doesn't take a genius to work out why the Tories have made the proposal. Why no mention of Northern Irelands MPs?
That said, the current system is now unfair.
A better solution would be to scrap the House of Lords. Use the Chamber for the UK Parliament which would only have powers to make legislation that is not devolved to the individual countries (Defence etc). The Commons should become the English Parliamnent. The Elections should be on a fixed timetable (Not at the whim of the incumbant PM), with the UK Parliamentary election at mid term to the national elections in England, Sotland, Wales and NI.

Gromit's point in Answer 5 above is a valid one and the answer as to why the Conservatives make no mention of NI politicians is the fact that these are basically Unionist...ie Tory!

Yes flip_flop is correct, why should Scotish and EU students have their tution fees paid for them if they study in Scotland yet English students have to pay? Is not England in the EU? This is racist against the English, why has no one taken it up with the European courts?
The elderly living in Scotland, don't have to sell their homes to pay for care, if they have to go in a nursing home.
Their public sector workers are paid more.
Unemployment payments are higher.
Goverment funding in Scotland is �1,500 more per head of population than it is in England.
Scotland is soon to introduce free perscription charges at a cost of �70 million per annum to the NHS.

I don't see that there's any option now, but its exactly what Alex Salmond wants, and what the Scottish Labour goverment of Britain has been angling for since 1997.
But let it be the English who instgate the breakup of the UK, and not the Scots.
Scotland as a country, has always wanted to be a full member of the EU, with all the benefits they think it will bring.
That is their ultimate goal, become a completely independent country, and instead of handouts from Britain, get them from Brussells.

Appreciate that, I didn't mean Scots as individuals, but as a nation, if you talk to most Scots, thay'll have the same view as you, but I reckon thats what Mr Salmond is after, the breakup of the UK, instigated by the English, and then Europe here we come, hands out.
I also agree with your sentment, the worst thing for both countries, 'United we stand'', divided?, well we'll see.
