Brown has just said he plans a whole new tightening of security to include sporting events, shopping precincts and even schools to combat any terrorist threats. Whilst I actually agree with him due to muslim terrorists being ruthless cowards, I am a little peplexed whilst in the same speech he is to relax air passenger legislation, particulary hand baggage.

Surely, as recent history has dictated, the greatest threat is from airplanes? Not only 9/11 but that Richard fellow who tried to set fire to his shoes for example.

I propose therefore that hand baggage restrictions should actually be enforced to a greater degree, along with the new proposals.

As a fairly regular air passenger, and surely for the huge majority of other users, the restrictions in place are no big deal. You know what you can or can not have on borad, and most travel by air is usually well planned in advance by the traveller.

Ooooooooh big deal you may have to spend an extra half an hour or so in check in.

Further, airports and the BAA make millions of pounds profit a day and already have the infrastructure in place to maintain high levels of security.

Am I alone in this concern? Sometimes I think Brown has lost both eyes and not just one, as he really can't see the wood through the trees sometimes.

Bewlay the best thing to do is take no notice of anything a politician says lol.
He might want to relax it but that doesn't mean the rest of the world does ! I am sure a flight going outside the UK will have to abide by the receiving Country's requirements.
He's not sitting in a chair thinking "I wonder how I should run Heathrow's security this week" you know.

This will be the result of a security review done by security people who know far more than you or I or Gordon Brown do about the subject.

They'll probably just remove the daft rules on liquids anyway
It's a load of bollards!
nice work
