The thing is by saying you find it disgusting at a certain age, it puts mothers of breastfeeding full stop. I had my first child in 2001, until he was on solids properly at 6 months I felt comfortable to breastfeed publicly. I had my second child in 2005, it was uncomfortable, people told me I was disgusting and all sorts of other things. The difference is between 2001 and 2005, there had been a dozen programmes making breastfeeding look unnatural. There had been a fall in new mums willing to breastfeed. Only 69% even attempt it.
What percentage of mums feed up to 3 weeks? 55%, past 9 months? 20% So lets hazzard a guess that its less than one percent that breastfeed their 3 year old and above.
Unicef and the world health organisation both say.....Optimal breastfeeding practices include exclusive breastfeeding (breastmilk with no other foods or liquids) for the first six months of life, followed by breastmilk and complementary foods (solid or semi-solid foods) from about six months of age on, and continued breastfeeding for up to AT LEAST 2 years of age.
It would make me uncomfortable to see it but thats my issue, not the child or the mothers.
