I do definitely agree with you about the poor spelling,grammar and misuse of the apostrophe Lucy Thomas but if I corrected every single instance of it on here it would be a full time occupation. I don't allow it to annoy me any longer. I will never agree that cruelty to animals is funny so would not stick up for anyone who thought otherwise on that particular subject.

Brionon. I was lucky to have very good English teachers all through secondary school. The same could not be said of other subjects.

I also believe that learning doesn't end the day you leave school. Good grammar is an asset that will stand you apart from someone who writes poorly. If an employer recieves two application forms from two equally qualified people, the poorly written one will not be the one that catches the eye.

To write poorly shows a slack attitude. It says that you can't be bothered, that you don't care how others perceive you.

If you want to learn good grammar, buy a good dictionary and read what is known as the style guide. It will tell you all you need to know about punctuation and its correct usage. Read quality publications such as a good daily paper, but avoid the 'red tops'.

I find that often when something horrible happens, people make light of that situation with a joke, it often breaks the discomfort we find in mankind or gives a break from the morbidity. Who really finds what Fred West did amusing? Yet there were plenty of jokes about that. When it comes to animals people cant accept that some people try to do this. I will never understand those who get so defensive over animals but wouldn't treat a person with the same respect.


If it was my son, I would no doubt have given the evidence to the RSPCA.

Yes I would, he's old enough to know better, drunk or not. What I'm wondering is who was doing the filming on the phone whilst he chased the cat around the house? He appears to have been talking to someone?

Although I agree it was a cruel thing to do, I wouldn't shop a member of my family to the authorities. I would make them very sure of how disgusted I was, but I certainly would not throw them out unless they showed no remorse. After all, I'd put the welfare of my family above an animal, loved or not.

I wouldn't have thrown him out of the house but I would have reported him for the cruelty.People have to understand that cruelty to animals or other human beings is wrong.

I would definately shop my son or daughters to the authorities. In fact my son was arrested for criminal damage and I was so cross about it that when the police came to the house and told me they wouldn't be handcuffing him I insisted they did.

It turned out they had the wrong person...but at least my son knows I won't stand for it, lol.

Methinks you should learn how to spell 'RECEIVES'.

Also the use of the exact article as 'one' should not be used twice in the same sentence.

And finally, the use of your apostrophated words, such as doesn't and can't, as opposed to does not and can not (in your speech) shows the slacking you are in fact whinging about.

That is the problem with correcting English, especially on a forum like this.

I would consider myself highly intelligent in the grand scheme of things, but admittedly my spelling is terrible. That is why I am much happier picking holes in peoples' political ideology rather than their spelling or grammer.

Also, her use of someone would be better if she wrote 'somebody'. Both are correct, but somebody is just...........nicer.
