Can you tell the difference?
11 Answers
On the radio this morning, they had an item that said some people were concerned because no-one can tell the difference between a muslim and a sikh. And that people from these sects were constantly being insulted because they can look like Osama BL. Well, I've lived in this country all my life and I can't tell the difference between a catholic and a protestant, so what's the big deal?

Sikhs (and Hindus) have pretty much integrated fully into our country - they ask for no extra favours and pretty much get on with life without the perceived chip on their shoulder.
Muslims on the other hand have a real problem with their PR - most of the media report them as not having integrated and demanding special rights.
The Sikhs are therefore trying to disassociate themselves from the Muslims, explaining that just because they are Asian, does not mean that they are Muslim.
It would be the equivalent of you going on holiday to Thailand and everyone thinking that you are French. I am sure that you would try and explain that you don't stink of garlic or have a superior smirk on your face ;-)

I'd be really surprised if moderately educated people couldn't tell the difference between a Sikh and a Muslim.
This is what Bin Laden wears:

and this is what a Sikh bloke wears:

The Sikh turbans always seem to be wrapped/fastened with peak at the front.
However, that's pretty much irrelevant. No-one deserves to be singled out for abuse because of their religion.
