Learning more about one another never hurt anyone and has, in my personal experience, nothing but a positive effect on all concerned, helping to quell the usual paranoia about parallel societies, 'they come to rob us of jobs and take our women' and any other old bunk that the Daily Mail spews forth on a daily basis ad nauseum.
So yes I would, Guardian reading leftie git that I shamelessly am.

Hello AOG,
The Daily Mail couldn't bring themselves to reveal their source of this news item, so I will have to tell you.
It has been publish by that looney left rag the New Statesman on its website.

Obviously, the piece is very informative when the Daily Mail hysteria has been removed and I'm sure you will see it is the way forward.
It is a shame that Liverpudlian school teachers do not get a mentoring service when they go to Sudan. When the British prove this is a good idea, I am sure the Sudanese will follow our lead in future.
Fancy the Daily Mail having to steal stories from the New Statesman. What is the world coming to?

I would help them with their English and Maths. Like it or not - and I don't particularly like it very much at all - they're here - and they aren't going anywhere, so there's little point in harbouring continual resentment and hatred in a battle that cannot be won. We do have to live with them and therefore the best thing we can do is get to know them and help them integrate.
I believe that charity begins at home. Our country as a lot of down and outs living in poverty on our streets. Why don't we go and hig one of those. They have no homes and no-one to turn to. Oh no - we will go and hig a migrant and the council will give him a warm house and furniture to help him while he gets benefits. Then we will leave our own homeless with no way of claiming benefits because they have no fixed abode. How do i know this - 1, through my church (yes i am a good christian) an 2, I workd for a storage company who have an overflow of people waigint for council houses they can't get because the council say they have to give them to the asylum seekers etc. first - amazing. Land of Hope and Glory and all that.

guys, I am a firm believer that charity starts at home.
I have to agree, that our time and love would be better spent on abused children and mothers and homeless people, even animals!
I work for the UK biggest care provider and trust me giving love and support to children and adults with physical, mental or learning disabilities is MUCH MORE important and rewarding than giving advice to some freeloading polishman looking for a job as a plasterer.
so i say bowlarks mate

spaced and revfunk - there are plenty of groups out there for these people already - and all of them are under volunteered.
I do work with kids under 18 who have criminal convictions (hence the no time in my ealier post).
Point is that we already have these in place - this is just another one. If you don't want to volunteer as you don't like migrants, then don't. But why not volunteer to work with battered wives, homeless etc.
Or just keep blaming migrants for all the ills of society while you do nothing?

Rev, I am nice to several old ladies up the street, and I do help people in various sectors of society, but that doesn't prevent me from offering to help immigrants to integrate. I'm not happy with the situation either, and I believe we have allowed far too many to come in, but as I said , they're here, they aren't going to go away, so there's not a lot we can do except make the best of it.
I wonder how many here who object to people helping foreigners currently actually do anything practical to help those of our own who are in need - or is it just an argument they're using?

I Choose To Ignore Migrant's In The Hope They'll Get The Message And "Pi55 Off " Back To Where They Came From . My Self , After Keeping My Own 4 Wall's In Order, I Help My Children Out, Making Myself Useful To Them, Babysiting, Running Errand's,Gardening ECT. So, Have No Time To Consider Outsider's .
oneeyedvic- i was going to say pretty much the same. This is not instead of helping other people who need it , it is as well as. At the college that i will volunteer to help with English and Maths it is for anyone who needs it, Immigrant or not. I am also hoping to become a Foster carer in the next few months and also volunteer for Homestart. So what do you lot who say charity begins at home do to help? Charity should be for anyone who needs its, at home and abroad.
