According to the BBC, hundreds are marching in the streets of Khartoum to protest against the leniency of her sentence and are calling for her to be shot.
What do you think - should she be shot?

I have a question too. Why is it ok to call a person Muhammed, but not a teddy ??
Whiffey - live in their country, abide by their laws. Simple as that. Religion means the world to them whereas it doesn't matter as much over here.

(As I say, I too think it's a ridiculous "crime" blown up out of all proportion but am just arguing the other side of the case)
they probably see a bear as not being worthy of this name, as its an animal. Plus it was a toy....who knows how these idiots think.

Oh dear, there is a crowd outside my house...what? John called his toy bear Jesus?....oh dear! Kill Him.

What a joke!
Well, I'm more worried about the teddy now. No news. What happened to it? Was it beheaded?
Louisa - It's because they see a person as being made by God and honour their god by naming it Mohammed, whereas a teddy is a trivial bit of fluff made by man and not worthy of such a "great" name.
Jesus was also a muslim prophet in the eyes of Islam before Mohammed, but they don't seem bothered if anyone takes his name in vain.
Squarebear, you seem to be sticking up for these morons.

their"laws" are prehistoric ridiculous ideals.

This country of ours allows muslims to freely parade with placards wishing death on us.

Lets have a British law which states that being a muslim merits a death penalty. They thought of this idea first so they surely cannot complain.
No please read my posts. I said I am only arguing the other side of the case and truly believe that this was a nonsense crime that has gone crazy.

Of course she meant no harm and any civilised country would see that.
The degree of intolerance from the Sudanese in this case is unbelievable. No matter how hard I try and be sympathetic to minority groups in this country, I am beginning to find it very difficult to view Islam as anything but the sanctuary of medieval thinkers and mysogynist barbarians.
I do not accept that there is another side.

I can give no credence to their ridiculous beliefs.

It is time their religion was outlawed worldwide.
Unfortunately the whole world will eventually be islamic.
Thanks squarebear and spaced for your answers.

No i don't think she should be shot, Why is their religion so hard, doesn't their god preach love, humanity and forgivness ??
There laws may be prehistoric but they are THEIR laws in their own country. Who are we to say what is right and wrong for other countries? Just because we may not like how they live, gives us NO reason to impose our laws or our way of life on them in their own land.

I think that's how Hitler started.
Oh I see, it is a Hitlerite view to condemn public executions, floggings, stonings etc.

It is time these people brought themselves into the 21st century. Or be totally cast out of it by the rest of the decent world.

If I was a young female about to be brutally circumcised I would glady vote for a nazi party if it would stop the suffering.
This woman committed no crime; the Sudanese invented these rules just to make a spectacle of her. Why she was arrested and convicted, and how they could prove that there was malicious intent is beyond me ...
The criminals here should be treated the same, and all aid to Sudan should be terminated immediately. Their lack of literacy shows in the failure of the Sudanese to demonstrate understanding and commonsense. Anyhow you take it though, the children are the losers. This is the most unjustified prison sentence I've seen in my lifetime, and it will go down in history for being the most stupidest one, ever. Their barbaric ways in these modern times are frightening. I would like to know if the United Nation cannot step in on this womans' behalf.
Makes you glad you live in a democracy and not a theocracy where the religious nutters run things. I'm sure if we did have

The iPhone is commonly nicknamed The Jesus Phone because it is deemed to be very cool. One journalist who used the term had angry readers calling him blasphemous.

"Your article regarding the new iphones was upsetting to me for one reason and that is that you called them the "Jesus Phone!" I would like to know why you used that term and what Jesus has to do with iphones? Could you please explain this to me?"

"Jesus Christ is my creator and yours and honoring His Name is vital. Please remember that His Great Name should never be connected with something is silly as an electronic device. Think on that!"

Fortunately, we do not have religious police. It is reassuring that christiandom has its fair share of nutters too.
No matter how bad you may feel about their way of life, it's tough. Hitler didn't like the Jewish way of life for whatever reasons he felt were genuine and look what happened there.

We have learnt our lesson! In future do not publish cartoons depicting a teddy called Mohammed. It was racist to sell a white fair haired doll and so the black dolly was produced. I hope this race were not insulted!
Drop The "H" BOMB On Em ! I Feel Sure We Would Be Doing Them A Favour . What A Pathetic Life They Lead , I Feel Sure They Would Be Better Off DEAD . Not Just Sudan But All Islamic Countries .
Will we see Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens) organise a peace concert to make these nutters see sense? Or will Yasmin Alibi Brown stand up, condemn them and go some way towards earning the medal she gracelessly rejected? Erm, I think not
