maddie and xmas pressies
maddie and her siblings have been sent hundreds of christmas presents from well wishers and her brother and sister will be given theirs, do you think its right that they should be given them or think thats there are so many children, in homes, on streets, low income families who cant afford them as the mc canns are able to and they should be forwarded to them instead?

In this case i guess the gifts have been sent because people still feel very emotionally involved in this families pain and need some sort of outlet for their own emotions - and giving something can indeed make you feel better.
As for the Mc Canns giving the gifts away - that would be very rude, if i gave a gift to someone and they gave it away before even opening it i'd be a bit miffed, same thing here. so no matter if they have money enough for gifts or what not they obviously need to accept them as a gratefully given token

I'm not trying to Scrooge all over this but what are people thinking of? Do these hundreds of people want them to know they haven't forgotten Maddy? Well send a card, they are definitely in the better off section of society and their kids dont need hundreds of presents. The McCanns should hand the pressies over to charity but these people who sent them should have chucked a tenner in the Salvation Army bucket, or a christmas present for them to hand out to the low income familes.
I don't dislike the McCanns but if they hang on to these presents then I can kind of understand why people might take a dimmer view of them.

iggy not rude
to be honest some of the gifts might not even be liked by the mccanns kids who have im sure plenty of toys.
and do you think its sensible to keep a pile of presents from total strangers piled up until maddy returns?
im of the opinion she wont.
if thats true they will still be there next year.
better given to the neeedy.
goody.
last night nothing to do with you and no aggro from me or meant eitheer.

The McCanns have no control over what other people do - and if this includes sending them pressies, then what do they do? They're damned if they keep them and damned if they don't!
The general public are always sending The Royal family stuff, which then gets sent on, yet this knowledge doesn't stop people giving them things!
The gift senders wouldn't send families on low income stuff instead though, it's not an 'either/or' situation!
I haven't watched the appeal as yet as it is generally Mr who does all the talking. I wish Mrs would talk more - really from the heart (instead of a script) and just let it all out..

I think that they have already acknowledged how grateful they are to all the people who have sent presents and it would be a good idea to donate them to an organisation such as The Salvation Army to distribute to poor children to enjoy, after all it's not really about gifts is it , it's about wanting Maddy to be found safely and returned.
It was madeleines birthday aweek or so after she went missing. It was reported that a lot of people had sent hundreds of toys to Rothley for Madeleine. These toys were sent to poor children, I think it was Belarus.so I dont think that the McCanns will hang on to these toys either. It is the sentiment they appreciate. There are far too many for one family to cope with anyway. They will be given away to needy children.
It is amazing that people can watch the exact same interview, appeal, etc. and come up with different opinions. Personally, what l saw was a mother in a great deal of pain, trying to keep her composure. I do not understand why people are so concerned about the twins. Would these people rather see them taken in to care. Judging from all the stories we have heard in recent years, children in care are not happy, and in my opinion, are probably at much greater risk of abuse than anywhere else.
