that story made me laugh a little - the last sentance! Whats the point in installing better equipment in the lion house after a tiger has mauled someone?!
I've loved zoos all my life and never had time for the anti-zoo lobby. Now I'm beginning to think differently. These creatures would be better off in wildlife reserves than shut in a place where they can be taunted by stupid arrogant humans.
Much as I disagree with MrsT on most issues, that exact thought crossed my mind when i heard the story. They shot the animal to save the life of the man it was mauling - I probably would have done the same thing, but i did ask myself if youweighed up the importance of both lives to the world which would come out on top...
(Of course the human would, but it did make me think for a while)
beerbelly, what an apt name for an apparent idiot. since when did an innocent victim, as this guy appears to have been become a 'hoodie chav', just because you are an ******* doesn't mean the reat of the world is. this kid is dead and all you can do is make retarded comments on the idiot-net about him. i hope you never have the pleasure of meeting a tiger in a street...
nothing to do with my above comments but over the past few years i have grown to believe that zoos are not good things.
It doesn't matter if human stupidity lead to the tiger escaping - humans are stupid all the time. But after it escaped it was a threat to everyone in the zoo, stupid or not. If shooting it is the best way to protect the zoo-goers, so be it.
Wow, MrsT arguing for animal rights... not something you see every day...
