I'll wager a modest sum that they are granted British Passports, something along the lines of the Human Rights Act granting to every man the right not to have to commit suicide because of a rotten mean intransigent British Government.

Ignore their demands. If we give them a passport, that will just be a greenlight to thiusands of their fellows. If they have been settle in Cyprus for several years, they cannot be classed as refugees anymore.

Quite touching that they still want to come here despite us shafting their countries. The streets of London are paved in gold you know.

Makes you wonder about the security at Military bases in Cyprus. They could just as easily have been Al Qaeda terrorists with murderous intent, rather than prospective economic migrants.

Hundreds could have been killed.

They don't really have a claim to be honest. They weren't seeking asylum, they just entered the area 7 years ago illegally, and now demand a passport. They're not being returned to a dangerous or hostile country, and so we're free to send them.
This should be a story that all you right wingers should be beaming at. And surprisingly for this genre of story which often gets posted on AB, the common sense, and correct decison is to coax them down and send them on their way.

They certainly shouldn't be conceded to. It'd be extremely ill-advised for the government to concede to such tactics. And realistically I sincerely doubt they will.

What I do find a trifle odd is that they spent seven years at this military base and were still denied passports. I'd be interested to find out why...

Having been an avid Daily Mail reader for ages now, I am confused. I have been led to believe that Britain has an 'Open Door' immigration policy. If that is true, why are these fellows messing about on roofs?

I very much doubt the government will grant them asylum. Even I'll be annoyed if they do. And we'll be sure to hear about it.

I mean, think about it, what would they possibly have to gain?
