Canada has apparently added the USA to a list of countries where prisoners are at risk of torture. The list is said to include countries such as Israel, China, Iran and Afghanistan. It isn't an official document but its implications could be wide ranging. Does the USA need to change its policies? Are tactics such as Guantanamo Bay acceptable?

This black mark on Americas character will only go away when Bush leaves the White House.
it's pity they can't change the rules, old dubya has been the best president they've had for a long time.
There must be millions of citizens in both the USA and UK who believe that the real threat to peace in the world has been George Bush. To torture prisoners just adds to the war crimes inflicted on Iraq. We blamed Saddam for the tortures in Iraq although he did not carry them out personally. Should it be any different when the USA is under trial?
Guantanamo Bay has NEVER been acceptable to anyone who cherishes the right to the freedoms which the USA claim to represent. It is an abhorance.
How can anyone claim to represent freedom and democracy when they have torture and incarceration camps where people can be held, being endlessly subjected to human rights abuses and torture without trial, or even an explanation as to what they are accused of. They held children in these camps.
America has become and embarassment to the truly free thinking world and should be duly castigated for it's breaches against humanity. We should distance ourself from them and their slanted ideals as much as possible.
'Team America World Police' sadly seems to be becoming the truth and we should all be very afriad of that.
Since the end of the second world war, America has been the biggest sponsor of international terrorism in the world. They have supported oppressive regimes and dictatorships, and been involved in the overthrow and/or destabilisation of democratically elected governments. For the last few years they have been involved in torture. As kwicky says, there are millions of people who believe that America is the biggest threat to world peace - it is certainly the biggest threat to freedom and democracy.
i think i'll set up a factory , printing T shirt's .
On the back: kill BUSH !
On the front: I HATE USA!
Judging all the comment's on here, I reckon it'll make me
A MILLONAIRE. LOL
Why oh why do people worry about other people's
four wall's. SOD EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with Nox: Americans are a great people and their country has a tradition of democracy and liberty. This has been dragged in the mud over the last few years, and I fear the damage to the country's good name may be long-lived. The idea of the American government defending torture is chilling.
