police march
31 Answers
A reported 18,000 rank & file police officers marched through the streets of London, what a disgrace.
What is this country coming to why was this allowed to happen?
Why were they not given a good kickin, in order to get back to their station in life?

That said, the independent pay review made its recommendation and the Government are being disingenuous by not properly adhering to it.
A lot of those Police Officers on the march didn't look very fit. It's probably the first time most of them have walk edanywhere in years.

Well socialists have always hated the old Bill, look at the last time they where in charge, they earned a pittance. Still when I got in I gave them 30% straight away then set them on the miners, that was great fun, loved giving old shredded wheat head a good hand bagging. I notice Brown has given the coppers in Sweaty land a rise. England will take so much and pow, Brown's political head will be on a spike soon then Plod can have decent rise.
Fletcher, there's no simple way to say this: you are a tw@t!

Nice leap of Illogic Gromit. You are correct, the wets bottled it but I don't think they where inherently lefties.
There may be a lot who don't understand what was done was necessary but I'd imagine they'd be the same ones moening whatever.
Here's a little exercise for you Gromit, ask yourself where the country was heading in 1979 and ask yourself where we'd be today without the Thatcherite reforms.

A 39% increase over 10 years gives a compounded average rate of 3% per annum . Wow, that is huge.
Let us see what the increase in MPs basic salary over the same period works out as;
1997 - 43,860
2007 - 60,675
an increase of 38.5%.
So, could this extortionate rate of increase of Police pay actually be in line with other public sector pay?
