when our workplace was due a pay rise everyone around me received 3% but i received 1 and a half %.
i queried this and the contract manager said it was because i was moved from 1 section to another.
i found out only 2 of us received this small rise out of about 200 employees .
is this right?

It's common now for employers to offer performance based pay rises and I guess that you have been deemed as 'working towards' or' under training' or 'new to role' or something like that. It's quite common to get no rise in some private sector companies now. But you are better off asking your manager or union rather than AB listeners who don't know your terms and conditions.
A contract of employment that says your employer will enhance your pay by x% each year are rarer than rocking horse manure. Is it legal? - yes.

i have been employed at this company for 10 years now and have always received 3-4 % rise each year.
the 2 of us had been moved to this different section because of indifferences with 1 of the foremen.
i just thought i'd ask AB browsers first before i try and take it further.
i'm not in no union but thinking of joining ucatt
3 or 4 percent per year for 10 years?

i would take the hint and move on to a job with prospects
in my company it is normal for individuals to get different pay rises.

Your lesser pay rise may simply be due to there being a difference in salary (maybe you earn more) to the colleagues in your new section, and you Manager may be trying to bring your salary in line with you colleagues.

Ask your Manager for the reason why your pay rise was so small.
I would put your request in writing and request that they respond in writing - It doesn't sound equatible, but you need to get their reasons first, in black and white, and then ring ACAS, who can offer you advise.
