Has there been any news about the missing girl, Shannon from Dewsbury, over the past few days. The media seem to have stopped reporting completely - is this significant?

Was on the news this morning that one of the papers has offered a 20k reward for information
Sadly the longer this goes on it is less likely there will be a positive outcome. Her family must be going through hell.
In this equally sad and disturbing case, no millon pound rewards offered, no special fund set up, no high ranking goverment official giving up his highly paid job, to take over the media coverage, no audience with the Pope.

I wonder why?
I agree anotheoldgit!
It's terrible that they can do it for one, and yet there's bearly any coverage on this poor missing child. I think I remember that a reporter even asked the Mccann's what they thought about this new missing girl.
What's it got to do with them? They haven't gone to every parent of a missing child and asked them what they thought of Shannon's (Sorry, do not know her last name) disappearance.
There was an interesting article in the Times yesterday about this. It was very much along the lines that there is very little obvious public support for the family and is that because it is a seemingly disfunctional family from a Yorkshire housing estate and not a middle class professional family.
I remember when Madeleine first disappeared the question was asked - would the publicity be the same if it was a single-parent, less well educated family . That question, tragically, seems to have been answered.
Absolutely Ben's Mum. I have seen Shannon's parents slated on AB too (without people being aware of any facts at all),.

A couple of middle class doctors who left their babies alone to go out for a meal get so much support and are let off the hook about their negligent behaviour.

Hi all - Thanks for your resonses - I guess that this is what I was referring to when I posted, but didn't come straight out with it - The media/public response between the two cases is shocking. Surly, the lack of coverage for Shannon can only be detrimental to trying to find her. I initially thought the police knew where she was and had banned media coverage in case it jeopardised her safe return.
However, I believe that as a country, we believe that the people who should be carrying out the investigation, i.e. the Police, are actually doing a better job than the Portuguese plods did in Maddie's case........
