I just cannot believe that this man could get away with it for this long. The wife says she knew nothing of it. I myself find that hard to believe, or that she just couldn't have cared that much for the woman. Also don't you think he looks a bit like George Galloway :-)

maybe she is very hard of hearing and couldnt hear any noise comming from downstairs when her hubby went down to abuser their child which has just disapeard... of course child birth is also a silent activity (if your a scientologist) just wait a few days and they will spell it out a bit clearer... i would love to know how my mrs would take it if i kept comming out the cellar with 3 kids instead of the bottle of wine she asked for!!!!

Sky news says she was 11 yrs!

I don't believe the mother is innocent either! I think she new something. She must have been screamign when she was first put there, during labour and not to mention some of the children that were still with her down in the celler!

11!! My god thats disgusting. The whole thing is no matter what her age, but thats just shocking. And I know the woman put a note in the sick childs pocket but even without the note surely the doctors would know somethings up, that child had never seen daylight

I definitely don't believe the wife knew nothing of what was going on in her own home for 24 years. Sh is being shielded by her husband I bet! Those poor children who were forced to live in the cellar are going to need years of therapy as is their poor mum.

sleepy she has denied all knowledge. When I saw it on news it seemed like they lived in flats, what about the neighbours

I want to know how that's possible with no drugs, no midwife, no prior knowledge of child birth procedures....

...it's all a bit too much to take in really.

I guess before hospitals etc birth was a natural thing, not everyone needs drugs either. But I;m suprised more didnt die

SP- women have been giving birth for thousands of years before midwives, drugs and child birthing knowledge came around!

Childbirth is straightforward,there are millions of women worldwide who don't have access to midwives and drugs and they manage.Complications in childbirth are actually quite rare.

This story is heartbreaking. How can he of gotten away with this kind of thing, it's horrid. I hope he didn't interfere with his (what would they be grandkids?) also, but what's the chances of that! : (

Natural or not, childbirth would have hurt and i'm sure screams would have been heard! It's such a horrible thought to even try and think about!

Oh yer definitely I was more referring to the needing a midwife comment. But then if he has the nerve to rape her in first place maybe he gagged her through childbirth.

She might well have been brainwashed into staying silent.There have been reports of a padded cell in the basement where she lived,maybe he built that to drown out the sounds of the births???

She must have been young having her first child and scared out of her wits!

There isn't any justice in the world, even when he is convicted, all those lives he's ruined have already have their life sentence and will always be with them!

There may well be medical problems to consider too because of the inbreeding issue. :-(
