Why can't more young offenders be like this?

Seb Green stole a boat off the Dorset coast and ended up having to be rescued by sea rescue team at a cost of �20k. He was 15 when he did this. He is now 18 and and is doing a sponsored walk around the coast of GB to raise money for the Sea Rescue teams and the RNLI and in doing so, trying to make amends for what he did.

Good on him I say.

If there are any more �20 going spare, I am doing a sponsored walk to the pub later.

1 - The charities get a large donation.
2 - He gets a nice walk around the coast.
3 - The only people that donate are those that are happy to do so.

I see no losers in this situation. With that in mind I don't see what anyone's got to grumble about.

Why not look on his website quoted above. I believe �100 per week is being taken out of expenses, he went for TA training for a month at Catterick while he was walking in Scotland etc.

well spotted sp 1214 - it's quite clear on his website that there are 2 completely separate funds - ALL the on-line money goes direct to the charities, whereas to contribute to his support fund people have to fill out a form and post a cheque, so not a penny of expenses is taken out of charity donations. If people want to contribute to his expenses that's their choice isn't it?

On the news this evening I hear he is near Aberdeen and it looks like a tent on his back. Good for him.
