There are hundreds of people working airside who have never had their criminla records checked in their home countries.....but don't worry, you are quite safe said the minister, with fingers crossed behind back.
Don't forget when you read the official statement, there are lies, damn lies and Government Spokesmen.

Not to condone hijacking but it's worth remembering that these men were part of a political party opposing the Taliban and fleaing Afghanistan in 2000
Given what we know about the Taliban it's not difficult to imagine what'd have happened to them if they'd been sent back to Afghanistan.
Had the hijack not been so public there probably wouldn't have been a trial. Putting opponents of the Taliban in prison isn't really in the public interest

Now it has emerged Mohammidy, 34, was recently arrested while driving a car around the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow airport.
Police suspected he was an unlicensed cab driver
So they stopped what they thought was a cab.
Excuse me if I am wrong here (and I have yet to go to Terminal 5), but at every airport I have been to, cabs aren't allowed into any dangerous areas and certainly not where they could cause a major incident.
He also had a 'Security pass' also know as a BA pass in the article. On the basis that his conviction was quashed in the high courts, what exactly do you want a prospective employer to do? Do you want a list that they can check of 'people who may be a bit dodgy but haven't actually committed any crimes'?
And before you go on about him having been part of the group that hijacked an airliner, they did that as they feared for their lives. They did not physically harm anybody. Whilst it is certainly not action any one can condone, if it is a choice of being killed or hijacking a plane with the best of intentions, I know which one I'd rather do.
Anyway, I thought you'd be pleased that he had a job instead of sponging of the state.

It,s not yoursor mine to keep or give away. Face it we live in a global world now. If we brits are allowed to go and work in another country, or emigrate to Spain then why cant others come here? The only people in england who can really moan about foreigners coming over are the ones that have never set a foot out of it. You could say that they truly love the place, however these are generally the thickest of the lot who have no inkling whatsoever to learn about foreign culture. Or anything for that matter, and then quite happily eat a kebab on the way home from the pub.
