So what Taxes would you introduce ? My daughter,a motorist, suggests coin operated Traffic lights. when a Pedestrian {ME} wants to cross they'll have to insert a coin to get the Green Man and cross over. She gleefully envisages fights between Pedestrians who cross on anothers coin. Have you any ideas for new Taxes ?

i think you should pay tax on your weight , any male over 13 stone should pay more. that would get the fat people out of there cars and walking . (good healthy exercise) also increase car tax to at least �1000 for a car with a small engine, any car over 1600 cc �5000 tax this will help the planet and get the lazy people to walk or cycle (again good healthy exercise.)

How can a male over thirteen stone be over weight ? Especially if he is six foot tall and full of muscle .
And would you tax people who are fat through no fault of their own? Those who have a gentic disease etc .

Best idea I've heard in a long time is to tax the increase in value when planning permission is granted on a green-field site.

Granting planning permission can increase the value of land from a few thousand to millions.

That money could be used in improving the infrastructure for the surrounding area

tranmerekid - overweight people (such as myself) already pay more tax, we are constantly told we stuff our faces with crisps and McDonalds and therefore we pay more via VAT than anybody else.
