The woman nearly died. Cows will attack people if they have their calfs with them. They are protecting their young. The woman had a dog with her and this is why the cows reacted.
Anyone who lives or walks in the countryside should know this. You, and presumably this woman did not.
Seems pretty ungrateful, as the farmer possibly saved her life. She says there should have been a notice to say there were cows in that field, so she should get 1M compo. She was just a victim of her own ignorance.

It is really sad that the lady got so badly hurt but i don't think a farmer should be held responsible for his cows attacking when someone walks into a field with a dog . As for saying a notice should have been on the gate ,maybe that would have helped but farmers shouldn't be expected to put up notices of every possible hazard.Like living in a city has dangers so does living in a rural area.
At least 8 people have been KILLED by stampeding cows in the UK over the last 10 years. Many many more have been injured, including this policeman:

You are obviously not a country person - and this sort of incident has been widely reported in the news media.

Actually I lived in the country side for better part of 21 years. But then I guess cows never attacked me because I didnt have a dog.
I would understand if it was a bull as they have a reputation for aggressive behaviour but this is something I have never seen a cow do (there are quite a few of them in the fields near my parents).
I have heard of some idiots being attacked by cows while out cow tipping but then they were actually attacking the cows.
I have also experienced a heard of cows surrounding me while I was out mountain biking with my old man it was weird I give it that but they didnt seem aggressive just ultra curious and they took 20 steps back if you shouted or did a star jump.
But whatever this farmer was obviously mind controlling the cows into stamping on this womans head so he should pay up for her walking through his land where his cattle were.
