Foreign staff
49 Answers
I went into my local supermarket yesterday and due to them moving a certain item from where they are generally shelved, I had to ask for assistance.
The first member of staff I asked, could not understand my request, because he could not speak English. I then asked another staff menber, in a different area of the store, you've guessed it, he also could not speak English.
Surely the need to speak the language should be the firsty qualification needed when attending an interview for a job where one deals with the public?
I persume that if an indigenous person had attended the same interview, he or she would have been asked the usual questions, what qualifications had they attained etc. Their general ability to answer the interviewer's questions would have also been essential, I would have thought.
It makes one wonder therefore, if foreign applicants are given preference over our own job seekers?

Perhaps it's my age, but really - if you're going to shout about your national pride, you may want to start writing with due regard to the rules of English grammar.
Yep...totally snide. But true.

Bazwillrun...you dates are hopelessly wrong. Seriously, by stating that mass immigration to the UK started with the expulsion of the Ugandan Asians, you expose dirty great big holes in your theory about mass immigration.
It actually started in the 50s. First race riots in Notting Hill were in the sixties.
I'm reading the excellent 'Bl**dy Foreigners' by Robert Winder at the moment...I'd give it a browsing if I were you. It'll clear a lot of stuff up for you.

Do you know the political/social context behind the West Indian immigrants coming to this country?
Actually, scratch that question. I'd like to ask you this...seeing as the 'British identity' (which as a concept is almost impossible to define) has changed because of immigration - couldn't it be argued that 'British identity' Britain is at the time of writing?
I mean, the Britain of the 16th century was completely different to the Britain of the 19th century, and so on.
At what point in history are you fixing on?

sp1814 and i quote ''brits have feared immigrants for years but now cant act on their preducies as they have in the past'' isnt this taking the very moral stance away from britains society? THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH ie DEMOCRACY the freedom to express our fears and concerns?ONEYEVIC it is precisely because of do gooders like you that this once great country is in the pathetic state that it is in.ok i agree to a certain amount of genuine immigrants but surely enough is enough, when the very backbone of our society is being eroded by the influx of TOO MANY migrants surely even the thinnest of rose tinted lenses cannot blur the issues for you facing this country.
Its great that you accept what Robert Winder has to say, i dont need to read his book to tell me what i know and have seen and lived through.
I never mentioned any dates specifically and i didnt mention enoch powell, its you that seems to have decided who and what dates i was referring to
Enoch Powell is not my hero but he knew what he was talking about and will be proved correct.

I'm not trying to score points (except, that's a complete lie - I totally am), but you wrote:
Our problems started when we allowed mass immigration , which in itself was started when Idi amin kicked out the Asian and we allowed them to come here.
That happened in the early 70s.
Mass immigration had been going for 20 years before that, resulting in race relations legislation to be drafted by the MacMillan government in (I think) 1963.

from wiki
"On August 4, 1972, Amin issued a decree ordering the expulsion of the 60,000 Asians who were not Ugandan citizens (most of them held British passports). This was later amended to include all 80,000 Asians, with the exception of professionals, such as doctors, lawyers and teachers. A plurality of the Asians with British passports, around 30,000, emigrated to Britain. Others went to Australia, Canada, India, Sweden, and the U.S.[33][34][35]

Also, you have stated that you don't want Britain swamped with blacks and Asians.
Problem with that is that people, rightly or wrongly (actually, let's be honest...it's rightly) will think that you're racist...because you don't like the sight and presence of non-whites.
Honest...what on earth do you think racism is?
People can openly discuss issues regarding race and ethnicity, but the minute you start saying, Keep Britain White', people will look at you as if your an 80s NF throwback.
Yes...you can have your freedom of speech, but the problem you now have is that unless you can articulate your views so that they don't sound so (pun not intended) black and white...you will be disregarded as a 'raving right' in the same way that most of us moderates disregard the 'loonie left'.

You just couldn't leave it alone, could you?
Also from Wikipedia:
The number of British persons born in the West Indies had increased from 15,000 in 1951 to 172,000 in 1961 to 304,000 in 1981. The total population of persons of West Indian heritage by 1981 was between 500,000 and 550,000, depending upon the official source used.[14]

Honest...please believe me...it's a significant and widely acknowledged fact...mass immigration to the UK started in the 50s...not the 70s.

dont be a jerk all your life , youre not as smart as you like to think you are, youre very good at turning a simple argument into an acedemic one full of facts and figures that try obfuscate and confuse, bit like a politician really.
The simple fact of the matter is we have been swamped by asians and blacks, muslims etc ( i dont recall the greeks or the italians jews coming in such numbers and having such a detremental effect) who are destroying the identity of this country, the dates are not that important, but that is the simple truth, just look around you if you dont believe it

bazwillrun you dont have to read the posts on here to see that i agree with you but all we do is get called racists dont let these do gooders and ''humanitarians'' grind you down there are millions of people who think that this country has gone to the dogs because of ''multiculturism'' enough is enough but i fear that it is already to late.......there will not be a turnaround because that would mean mass deportation and that will NEVER happen..things will just get worse im afraid.................................

youre very good at turning a simple argument into an acedemic one full of facts and figures
Heaven forbid that you have an argument with facts as opposed to opinions!
No, you are doing the politician thing by saying things like: Our problems started when we allowed mass immigration , which in itself was started when Idi amin kicked out the Asian and we allowed them to come here.
When it has been pointed out that this is factually inaccurate, instead of saying "Sorry, I was wrong, but immigration is still a problem whether it started in the 50s or 70s", you keep trying to cling to your original inaccurate answer and then accuse everyone of trying to be clever!
AS I have mentioned several times on AB, my parents are Asian. I am totally integrated in to British society, have never supported Sri Lanka in cricket and am behind England 100%. My parents came here in the 60s and I am born and bred here.
This conversation is also about me standing up for my country.
Yes, there are times that I feel intimidated by groups of black youths - but there are also times I feel intimidated by groups of white youths.
I used to live in Northampton and when I worked in Corby, I could barely understand anything anybody said (I have a real difficulty with a Scottish accent).
This country is not going to pot. Can you specifically tell me what is wrong with the country (with regards immigration)?
And I should point out that I would prefer facts and figures not what the bloke down the pub says (or worse what the Daily Mail says)

Let's leave the 50s vs 70s argument alone now. We know the answer is that mass immigration to the UK (from the Commonwealth) started in the 50...this is a side issue.
What I'm trying to say is that your posts indicate that you hold racist views. If you re-read them, I don't see how you could reach another conclusion.
You are patently not standing up for your country...you simply want a whiter Britain.
Okay...okay...please, please tell me what racism is to you.
It would be interesting to read how you differentiate yourself from a racist.
