what on earth is going on, if people have knives on them then they go out with the intention of using them, something must be done, but im at a loss to know what
I was watching Linda Robson talking about this on tv and she was saying they should be sent to some sort of borstal and made to do hard graft, not just put in jail where they can lounge about watching tv. Deterrent AND punishment is vital. It's scary, and I worry every time my kids go out now, even though we live in a quiet place.
Capital punishment. There is no other answer. When a killer knows that he would lose his life as well then he only kills when someone has done something very very bad to him and as a revenge. They do not dare killing for the sake of just checking how sharp their blade is.
It doesn't matter how old they are, they know it's wrong to kill so they should get what they deserve. Life ! And it's about time that life should mean life, not just a few years.
OK. If you ask me then I would do the way my religion tells me. If (God forbid) I am the father of the victim. I will have to see that person myself and try to assess if he /she is regretting really what they have done and giving him another chance would turn him / her around and he /she would become a better person for the society. Because in my religion it is said that take a revenge if you can, however if you leave it to Allah then he is a better decider.
However if I see that person is adamant and not feeling any guilt at all then I would not let someone elses child being killed by him / her again and would rather put him to sleep.
Detection is good, but even better to start early, when children are little, by teaching them to respect other people, and by bringing a little discipline into their lives. Perhaps then they wouldn't feel the need to carry knives, and there would be no need for detection.
Let's turn that around, Keyplus. What if your child, at age 13 or 14, stabbed and killed someone, and clearly felt no remorse. Would you feel execution to be a fit punishment?
Chances are if a 13/14 year old new the consequences of killing someone would be hanging they probably wouldn`t use the knife in the first place
As for executing a 13/ 14 year old, no-one can truly say they would want their own child to be executed, but if someone stabbed my kids then I`d welcome it
naomi, i know of a family who have a son who murdered another by stabbing them, they are a very nice family and he was brought up as such, he was always polite and i can honestly say i couldnt bad mouth him, he wasnt perfect by any stretch but then who is, so who knows what happened there
This follows on from a thread i had going last night about the panorama programme about liverpool.
Though these stabbings weer in london , the latest in croydon i believe .
It just shows its a nationwide problem in the uk.
seems that the uk is worse than the rest of europe .
dont know why that is .
Perhaps theers less parental control in britain?
i know that the worst barts on holiday here are brits
other nationalities seem to be more strict with their kids .whilst i see brits here buying bluw wkd for 12 year olds to drink and letting 14 year olds go out at night as long as theyer back by midnight !!
risky at home but in a foreign country id say just shows how little the parents care or worry about their kids .
end of rant .
Btw stayed in tenerife over 2 years cant remeber hearing of more than a handful of stabbings , if even that.
First of all I would try to do what you said in your own post. Discipline you child. Muhammad (pbuh) said that until the age of 12 your child is a blank paper and you can write whatever you want. That really means that you can teach your child good or bad. Now someone may say that who want to teach their child bad things. Not being able to teach them good is actually that your are leaving them vulnerable to the Bad things.
Then however after that if my child kills someone for no obvious reason, then I would be on the other side of my earlier statement. Yes if I would see that my Son has no intention of getting better and is willing to do it again then I would have no hesitation in accepting his execution. After all double standards are which beings anarchy in the society.
Once a woman brought to Muhammad (pbuh) convicted for stealing and he ordered her hand to be chopped. People said that she was from a powerful family and this punishment may create problem. Even if my own daughter had done the same I would have given her the same punishment, He (pbuh) said. He (pbuh) said that societies before you went into trouble and turmoil only because they had punishments according to the ranks. Powerful and family members were ignored by the deciders and poor and vulnerable punished.
