I am not condoning what she did but lets face it she never killed anyone? Is this not typical of British Justice, a harsher sentence for a material crime than if she went up her main street and stabbed someone. I know what I would consider more serious. What are your opinions?

I have read through all these posts and most are very clear and concise. But, honestly, ask yourselves this one vital question: would you rather put up with a thief or with a liar ? In the case of the woman in this crime we have read and heard about someone who is a manipulative liar from beginning to end, even to the extent of deceiving her own sons (and purporting to be a woman of high repute and with strong religious principles). What rot !! And let us not forget too that in 3 or 4 years hence both these fraudsters (who initially received money from insurance/pension funds) will be the subjects of a highly acclaimed film of their lives for which they should receive millions. Crime ? What crime ?
Let us not forgwt that this insurance money is indirectly the money of all who take out insurance of one form or other.

And it is these same folk who constantly see their premiums increase year by year, partially due to fraudulent claims.
There assets have been seized:

The assets of the canoe death scam couple have been frozen in the first step to recover the 250,000 they conned out of insurance firms.

Back-from-the-dead canoeist John Darwin and his wife Anne were each jailed for more than six years for fraud.

Police said there was now a worldwide freeze on their assets and the long process to get the cash back through the Proceeds of Crime Act had begun.
