George Steiner, Is he right?.
Racism, he said, is inherent in everyone. Racial tolerance is only skin-deep.
The above statement was taken from the 'Max Hastings' column in the Mail,
Probably should have gone in Poitics, but no matter.

Yes, we all have an inbuilt tendency to be racially prejudiced. It probably has its roots in the fact that fear and avoidance of that which was different to ourselves gave us some kind of evolutionary advantage way back in our animalistic past.
Some people recognise this and use their intelligence and morality to suppress those prejudices, as they obviously have no use in civilised society.
Others don't, but give free rein to them for whatever reason, perhaps because they don't have the necessary intelligence or morality, or perhaps because they're just bad people who enjoy doing and saying bad things.
Anyway, he's basically right.

I know terambulans joke but a bit differently,
A man (No Scottish or Indian, without mentioning race or nationality) comes home and says to his wife very proudly,
Man: I saved 2 today and am planning to do the same twice a week and that would be saving of 4 a week, good way to cope with the credit crunch.
Wife: But how did you do that?
Man: instead of catching the bus I ran behind it.
Wife: Erm , why dont you try running behind a Taxi and that would save more money.
