You would actually struggle to find a lot of music that is of white origin to be honest. Almost all guitar based music comes from the blues and jazz of black america in the early 20th century. I think the closest you'll come is elctronica from the Kraftwerk school of music.
Regards the sensitivities of the MOBO's, they are an award from a time where black culture was under-recognised in the UK and they were introduced to highlight the talent that was around. It would be a little unfair to suggest that as they've been so successful they should cease to exist. Many would say that there is still a need for the distinction, although I think strides have been made recently to blur the lines (and I mean more than Ebony and Ivory!)
By the way, I'm a distinctly middle class white boy - not that this should be important, just feel like I should give some context.
Peace.
