Why is the French and German part of XL continuing unaffected?

http://www.xl.com/
'the french and german divisions of the XL group continue to trade as usual'

The Brits have been screwed again.

Might be worth checking with the insurance company
The CAA is repatriating those stuck abroad who are not covered by ATOL - still a mess, but they will be helped.

The Chairman of XL said in his press conference that his company had received lots of financial help in France and Germany, so are able to continue trading there.

Whereas here, he was knocked back big time.

Which makes me wonder about the old saying:

Remember your friends when you're on the way up, cos you'll need them when you're on your way down!

BTW, I've paid 4500 to Travel City Direct for a holiday to Florida in November. Looks like I'll be making my ATOL application ASAP.
quick prices will be going up
fly out to accerife on 18th we have a villa booked for a week, one already flying from Norwich. So 4 of us left near nottingham
I have my flights booked and this year it was harder to find the bargain. A poorer flight time is today 150 more than I paid for it a fortnight ago.

This is due to the increase in fuel prices, but the price on world markets is dropping so the prices for flights should start to get a little cheaper again.

There is still a lot of competition in the air flights market and I expect low prices to remain.

Paying an extra 50 at an high street travel agent will not give you anymore protection than buying on-line at an ATOL / ABTA registered site.

There is a flight to Lanzarote from Humberside Airport on the 18th for 396.
From Gatwick 329
From Cardiff 405
