Used to read the comic (aka the sun) mainly for the fact that it is the best selling daily and it is probably the best guide for what public opinion is. Stopped reading it when they supported the war on Irag. Since then have dallied with the express as my wife likes the crosswords and it has Frederick Forsythe wrting for them. Have now pretty much stopped reading all newspapers though. Tend to go to bbc on line if I want to know the news.
daily star is okay for a quick read, weekends, its the times,so much to read and some good storys.the daily sport at work,my misses would kill me if she found out?
If The Sun is "probably the best guide for what public opinion is", I think I may just go into the corner and cry.
The Independent: I am, is it?
Indiesinger - thats probably why I am so cynical. As mentioned in previous threads, the majority of poeple are uninformed about major issues - prime example is the Euro. If a referendum were to take place today, the majority of people would be against it as that is the stance of the Sun. Unfortunately the Sun says bad and people beleive it.
i am continuously disturbed by the amount of influence Rupert Murdoch has over the nations populace.
The Independent: it has Simon Carr and Dave Brown.
I read the sun and the mail as well as the guardian on a monday and news of the world on sunday. I don't think any are "best" it depends what you want, i also like the compact Times. I too agree though that Rupert Murdoch has far too much influence over what goes in (or stays out) of half this country's papers.
I used to read the Guardian only in my youth and barracked my Dad for taking the Telegraph / Torygraph. Nowadays I read pretty much all of them. I think its healthier not to limit or define yourself with a single view on the world - can't quite bring myself to pay good money for the Express though.
The Telegraph. Simply because it has the best rugby and cricket coverage.
The daily mail.
