The Army is increasingly concerned about the huge numbers of foreign nationals wanting to join the British Army.

This report by Melaine Phillips makes for interesting reading, below are two excerpts from her report.

As a result, the country is increasingly resembling some kind of mass transit camp, in which fewer and fewer inhabitants have any permanent attachment or identification with Britain. That's why almost two-thirds of all applicants wanting to join the Army in London are now foreign nationals - hence the Army's concern.

Multiculturalism is actually undermining that defence in an even more immediate and alarming way. The Metropolitan Police is currently all but paralysed by the sustained onslaught from ethnic minority officers who are suing it for discrimination. Many of these cases, backed by the Black Police Association within the Met, are clearly deeply mischievous and unfounded.

Multicultuism is a dangerous and failed New Labour experiment.

Unfortunatley we are probably going to have to deal with the fall out for many years to come.

You cannot have communities within communities, particularly when one lot want even differnt laws and nothing whatsoever to do with the other lot.

It will end in tears and unfortunatley probably violence. This is even more likely to happen now money is short and people perceive others as getting handouts for nothing.

Watch out for the BNP and its ilk gaining popularity. Already big in Austria. Odd that !

Hang on a second here...is the really the Daily Mail worried about 'our brave boys and girls' not being British?

What does it mean by 'foreign nationals'? Do they mean immigrants, or people who genuinely have a foreign passport?

What a confusing story. It's almost as if you can be brave enough to fight for Britain, but not if the face doesn't fit.

Weird.
Security is overrated. I mean that.
I don't think they are joining up to save the country. Maybe their are other reasons like not being able to find a job in this country.

The problem, I think, isn't Multiculturism on its own, its that coupled with 'this daft 'Human Rights Bill'. because without that, the Armed Forces wouldn't be having this problem, they'd be able to pick and chose, without the fear of being called racists.

raggy, security means that while it's ok to take a trainload full of toxic substances through the channel tunnel, which then catches fire, it's illegal to take a bottle of shampoo on a plane with you. Ludicrous.
of the three types of immigrant we have to deal with,
the coward,
the ponce,
the failure,
why would we want any of these people to attempt to uphold the security of our country?
Yep, overrated.

It's become a lazy argument-winner that people use to railroad common sense and quality of life and sensible debate.

This thread reminds me satisfyingly of this
Theres isn't much choice really for recruiment.
The people born a bred to this country have seen just how pointless joining up is. There is nothing to fight for.
Not only that but they have seen how those before them in the fighting forces were treated.
My dad and H's dad both lost faith after WWII. A country fit for heros. B*llocks is it. Look how we treat those who take up the queens shilling. Why put your life on the line to protect a country that will spit on you when you come home.
Thats why the services are having to call upon more foreign nationals and except them. There isn't any one else.
