What a dreadful accident in Cheshire, the family killed when their car caught fire after a collision. Four little children, the youngest only a few weeks old. They had been visiting the grandparents and were on the way home. My thoughts are with the rest of the family.

My thoughts are that this isn't a question.
I agree horse lady - it is a most terrible thing to happen. Let's hope for everyone's sake that it was just an accident. We are most of us very lucky aren't we? My heart goes out their poor families.
buildersmate. You are right.

It is not a question.

It is a heartfelt comment on the news.

Obviously you missed the sentiment.
Everyone agrees.
This is horrible. But why couldn't they get out?
because the car burst into flames on impact.
Their car was squashed between two HGV trucks, apparently to one third of the cars length..

The Portuguese driver of one of the lorries has been arrested, do we need more control on foreign drivers coming into this country not being experienced with our traffic regulations, rules and being able to read English signs?
Gosh 7th reply before foreigners were mentioned!!! Lets just wait and see what exacttly he was doing / not doing before the crash shall we! I know lots of people here that go and drive abroad who can't read the foreign signs!!

Anyhow.....totally agree horselady a truly horrendous accident and like everyone else - well almost - my thoughts are with the rest of the family and their friends.

Lets not forget the impact that this will have on all the emergency services and also the unfortunate drivers who witnessed the crash!!
The Portugese driver has been arrested on SUSPICION of causing death by dangerous driving, the senior police officer involved in the case said on the news last night that emphasis was on the word suspicion as investigations are still ongoing. We don't know that the lorry driver did anything wrong yet so lets not jump the gun here.
It is incredibly sad that a whole family were wiped out in this way,my thoughts are with their family and friends.
>Let's hope for everyone's sake that it was just an accident.

What does this mean?

What people normally call "accidents" are almost always someone fault.

Driving too fast, not paying attention, on a mobile phone, brakes faulty due to poor maintence and so on.

These are usually preventable so in my mind not "accidents".

Anyway, whether it was an accident or not does not bring the family back so it is awful either way.
The traffic had come to a standstill because of an earlier accident....traffic was stationary in a hold-up....the lorry driver failed to notice this and ploughed into the back of stationary traffic!

What road signs are you all on about????
Only one poster has mentioned road signs as far as I can see kjc. I wasn't saying the lorry driver wasn't to blame but I will wait until the investigation is over and all the facts have been made public before judging the lorry driver.
Sorry, just noticed another mention in libertie's post.
