THE anti-road pricing / snooping petition on the Number 10 Downing Street website achieved 1,791,942 signatures, but was been rubbished and ignored by Tony Blair.
Why was gordon brown so interested , outraged and involved in the ross/brand debacle ?
Afterall 25,000 complaints from how many m illion licence payers is insignificant.

With all the problems the country currently has I find it incredible that the Prime Minister should trouble himself with such a matter. Yes, it needs attention, but not from the Prime Minister.
Of course, whilst the headlines are full of activities of these two buffoons (Brand and Woss) they are not full of the activities of the other two (Brown and Darling) and attention is diverted away from the real issues of the day.
Just the result most politicians want.

Er, right...
So why is David Cameron getting in on the act and is he trying to distract someone?

legendis is not querying the rights and wrongs of the Brand/Woss debacle. It is the involvement of politicians that is being questioned.
Yes, gromit, Cameron is equally culpable of becoming involved in a matter which, although high profile, is no concern of the leader of the opposition.
There are plenty of people below the top level who should (and indeed are) becoming involved.

Actually I think they are right to get invovled.
This was clearly an outrage and as R1 points out no everyone picks up pen to voice their wroth.
The BBC is funded by taxpayers cash so the Government should be focussing on it. Just because we have a big financial crisis on should we ignore everything else.
I bet Brown thinks there's a god though !

Why does everyone think that because the BBC is funded by taxpayers, they are entitled to call the shots? It's just the usual uninformed amateurs meddling in things they know nothing about. The BBC are more than capable when it comes to making editorial decisions. This section should be called rent a quote!
What's going on here is that the self-appointed "moral majority" and those who hate the BBC on principle because they see them as left wing have sented blood.
They're simply seizing the opportunity to engage in some BBC beating.
The politicians are just getting swept up in it - journalists are doubtlessly baiting them for a quote and rather than saying "This is a matter for the BBC" they're getting drawn in.
