yes I'm sad, I got up at silly o'clock to watch the elections lol

I cant believe it, I never thought I would see a black president in my day.
I'm not a big fan of America but I am impressed how far they have come so quickly, 50 years ago they still had seperate schools now this!!!

he's not black - he's half white..
must be the bottim half
They're probably trying to find one no.know!
Seriously I should think everyone is glad it's all over now and I hope Obama lives up to the promise he's shown so far
lol at beejay - don't get cute on me.. his mum is white, his dad is black, ergo, he is coffee coloured...
He won't live up to his promises.....He's a politician!!!!

How long before someone has a pop at him I wonder...
hipy-one cant help but get cute on you-so one cant
well, black, grey, half-caste, sepia, taupe, coffee - does it matter what shade or degree? Hell, he's blacker than any other US President up to now. It's a victory of sorts for the coloured folk of the U S of A surely?

I think he seems a great guy. Let's hope he does some good now with his position & power. Cute kids too & my BF has a 'thing' for Michelle.
So where are the headlines - 'the first coffee coloured person in the whitehouse'...? no where.. It chould have been Hillary anyhoo.. and Beejay - thanks..
Barack Obama is African-American. Or at least that's how he identifies.

I'm willing to give Obama a chance: he's run on solid policies (his ideas on NAFTA notwithstanding...) but he has a really annoying showman side that McCain didn't. I hope he turns out a decent president and that he can build on the hope he's so effectivey generated.
OMG, I can't believe "I heard it here first"!!

my life has truly been taken over by AB!

best of luck to him :o)
The fact that he's african american is what will generate the headlines and I suppose that's to be expected. However his ethnicity should not be relevant - it's what he does once in office that is important and as the news has said he has inherited a country which is at war and in a serious financial recession so he has a struggle ahead of him.
A poisoned chalice?

Why else would the republicans do everything possible not to get elected? Picked the world's oldest man as their candidate, and a scary woman as his running mate. Use public funds instead of wasting their own money. $160,000 on Palin's clothes instead of advertising airtime. They didn't want to win.

And Obama's prize?
The National Debt doubled under Bush to $11billion.
A recession.
A crippled housing market.
A decimated Financial Market.
Two Wars to continue to fight or the humiliation of withdrawal.
Human Rights abuses trials at Guantanamo.
Torture at Abu Ghraib.

Obama's going to very busy cleaning up Bush's disastrous handling of the economy and foreign policy.
You've made me think now Gromit.....!!!!
Let's hope it's a case of "new broom sweeps clean".
Barack Obama is a committed evangelical Christian.

This can only be a good thing for USA and the world.

A female Jewish president would be headline news.

Will it happen?
