Institutional Racism in the Labour Party

According to Trevor Phillips of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, no "Barack Obama" could ever succeed in UK because of institutional racism. This I find very very droll, but also a little irritating, because as a result there could now be a huge "backlash" of political correctness resulting in the election of numbers of Black and Minority Ethnics disproportionate to their part of the population - i.e. election to positions of power purely because of their race.

Trevor Phillips is a racist, a black racist, and such a shame, because he was doing so well in highlighting the divisions in society resultant upon racial groups refusing to integrate.

jno, how have whites been running this country disproportionately to their part of the population? Huge majority of white folk, so a white PM. Black and minority MPs for constituencies where they are the majority. But what is heavily implied by Trevor Phillips is that Black (and ethnic minority) people should be voted in because they are Black. This smacks of racism, indeed it IS racism.

The main mystery to me is why he seems to have picked on the Labour Party. After all, it currently has thirteen ethnic minority MPs as compared with the Tories' two. Three such people have been Cabinet members, all of them in Labour governments. Why the gripe with what would appear to be the more open party?

I heard T.P. on the radio, conceding that he had no evidence of individual racism in the Labour party, but affirming that it was still institutionally racist.
The interviewer said that he couldn't get his head araound that and asked T.P. to expand. - He didn't - couldn't - but re-asserted his accusation.
HE is a bloody racist and an ar$e!
And, yes, what is his salary for doing nowt useful?

This is the same Trevor philips who some time ago, told us that muslims on the high seas had an important part to play in the English defeat of the Spanish Armada in the 16th century. Ar$e is too polite a word to describe him. I'm sure he is kept in his lucrative non-job as a token to assuage black and athnic racists.
Why do we have associations of BLACK police officers, MUSLIM police officers? Woe betide the copper who tries to set up an association of W.A.S.P. police officers?

Of course Trevor Philips is correct and I would go much further and say that insitutional racism is widespread in other parts of the UK.
When will UK have a black Wimbledon Champion (or any race for that matter) black Golf champion.etc etc etc.

Sport, the law, medicine all have covert racism.

How many blacks in your local Golf Club, Tennis Club, Bridge club............a bet?.......none.

I don�t like racism, but that is�t the question and not the point of Trevor Philips outburst.

We hate to think that were are racist in UK, but evidence suggests, in my opinion, that we are.

There is absolutely no suggestion from Trevor Philips that we should elect a PM on the ground that he or she is black.

It's monumentally misguided to think otherwise. Either that or deliberately wrong-headed. Which is it?

The institutional racism that Phillips believes exists means that black people don't have the opportunity to become PM, because of their race. He wants to see an end to that - so that it's possible that a "Barack Obama" could happen over here. And if it does exist, surely we all agree with that?

It's not that difficult to grasp. This Obama thing has really rattled you hasn't it?

All I have I have added is a personal view in that constitutional racism exists in the UK in many institutions.

No it hasn�t "got me rattled" as I have been aware of this for decades. What gets me is that most people in the UK think that race is not an issue in the "ultimate dream".

The Royal College Of Surgeons racist? Oh please! There must be a huge proprtion of it's members who are from a minority background if they were being held back in some way then they'd tell us, they're all very wealthy so could afford the adverts and campaigning etc.
A black matron? Whatever next? There's thousands of ethnic minority managers, doctors, matrons, team leaders etc in the N.H.S, get a grip will ya!
To succeed in society you have to compete within it's rules, we live with a culture that dislikes(?) learning, that popularises gangsterism (Guy Ritchie etal) perhaps if we promoted the beauty of books and lauded our scientists and academics as well as our sports people we would'nt have these conversations.
Curiously though the Asians (sub continental and Oriental) don't have this problem, why?

Tiger Woods is American and yes ethnic races fill our jobs, but my point is how many blacks would get to the TOP in institutions, the top to compare with the President of the USA

My point being, that blacks in the UK are being held back from the top jobs, because of the colour of their skin, not their lack of ability.
