STATEMENT REGARDING REPORTS OF REMARKS FALSELY ATTRIBUTED TO BILLY CONNOLLY ABOUT KEN BIGLEY
Billy Connolly is angry and disgusted by reports that he joked about Ken Bigley being harmed.
Billy's stage comments were restricted to pointing out the hypocrisy of some people including sections of the media faking concern about Mr Bigleys predicament while enjoying the drama of the tragedy and exploiting it for their own ends.
Billy is saddened by any distress these false reports have caused Mr Bigley's family and he hopes that Mr Bigley returns home safely.

Looks like Mr Bigley has been beheaded.
Let's hope the evil toerags that did it rot in hell.
What sort of people can cold-bloodedly do that to someone after weeks? I'm sure many of us could kill somebody in the heat of battle, but this???
Let's not talk of "resistance to invasion" or "freedom fighterS" - these people have more in common with the Moors Murderers.
If Billy Connolly has any feelings at all, he must be feeling pretty silly now. I doubt it though, as the only thing Connolly holds sacred is his bank balance. Connolly just opens his mouth without thinking at the best of times, but on this occasion he was definately out of turn. When a man stood up and shouted 'It's a man's life you're talking about, Billy', Connolly reportedly told him to F*** Off. That sums up the limit of Connolly's compassion. If Connolly had smilingly answered 'It's OK mate I don't really want Ken Bigley killed. I'm just having ago at all the media hype and how it's dragging on, OK?', that would have been acceptable.
Yes, tartanwiz, the liberal elite seem to think that its own effete, superior stance on horrors such as this is innately superior to the ruffian, lynch-mob mentality (as they would see it)of scum like us: the problem being that the liberal elite have got no solutions to any problems, domestic or international.
As long as they're safe, they don't give a toss.
Tartanwiz: I feel the following article by Stewart Lee says everything I would but much more succintly.

Will Connolly make a joke about the 14 year old black girl gunned down in Nottingham - if so will the humour-free zone that is Stewart Lee back him?
BC sticks a "spanner in the spokes" within certain clearly defined limits - those who step outside them like Jim Davidson suffer chattering class opprobrium.
