At least Ken Bigley got a minute's silence. I notice they never had any silences for any of my deceased relatives, and they never had anything to do with football either.
yes it was disgraceful. I am an England fan and have often felt disgusted by my fellow fans. I think that the pre-match proceedings should be respected, each country allowed to have its own anthem played, without the other supporters spoiling it. We are in competion on the pitch, wanting our team to win, but we should not forget to be respectful to others.
I agree we should be respectful, but I don't quite understand why we had a minute's silence on this occasion.
Like Kags and Jenstar, I am wondering why there was a minute's silence for Ken Bigley at a football match? I am also wondering why, as there was a minutes silence, this hasn't also been given for the thousands of innocent people who have died in Iraq.
Every decent english person (not just football fans) would be disgusted at the behaviour of these idiots.

the point im making is its wrong to cheer a minutes silence? regardless of who its for so plastic you are saying that you dont believe the silence was neccessary so it was ok to cheer it?
Sorry bobtheduck. Yes I do agree with you, noone should cheer or boo during a minutes silence or a national anthem. I also agree with you that England football 'fans' like that are a complete disgrace and give genuine fans a bad name. Sorry if I diverted from the point. That is why I opened a new thread.
in fact if you play back the tape to the england v wales game you will hear during the minutes silence a shout of COME ON WALES.
Vinny, perhaps I should have said 'any football fans' rather than 'England football fans'
I'm sure the overwhelming majority of football fans are decent people individually, but when they're put together they seem to morph into tribes of very nasty, rude and violent cavemen. I think being disrespectful generally, be it towards another team, a murder victim or anything/one else, is disgusting but, sadly, hardly suprising at a football match. However, being Welsh myself, I have to say that, in a weird way, I was almost pleased that some England fans felt that had to try to upset our team - they must've been worried that we were in with a chance to beat them! (I'm very patriotic but I knew we didn't have a hope in hell!!)
come on get real 60,000 people in one place, there's bound to be a couple of idiots out there. Just looks like to me that "because there was no rioting lets pick on the fans another way" scenario.
Vinny100 does it matter who was being disrespectful during the silence the fact is that they were, perhaps you should care more about that than defending your teams fans?
