true ethel but surley this woman/ girl had some kind of medical care during her pregnancy or someone who knows her will have knowledge she is no longer pregnant

There are many secret pregnancies and even genuine cases of women not knowing they are pregnant until the birth starts.

We are assuming the mother dumped the baby - we don't know that for a fact.

zzxxee it is not every pregnant mum who bothers to get medical help - some of those from Eastern Europe don't have the facility at home so probably wouldn't know about our NHS. Also some mums don't look pregnant, they don't put on weight and so no one but them would know.

It is shocking, but it is possible that the mother has concealed her pregnancy and is herself young and frightened and has acted in desperation and panic. Of course it is equally possible that this was calculated and deliberate, in which case let's hope the little tot finds a home where she is loved and cared for.

The police have now said the baby is safe and well.

It's just as possible the mother is being badly mistreated by somebody else who has dumped the baby. We just don't know

the main thing is the poor mite is being looked after it could of been a totally different story thank god she was found

Just so long as she is ok now, whatever the reason for her being dumped, maybe it will mean a better live for her in the long run.

I think alot of credit should go to the boys for their quick actions, God knows what the outcome would have been .

what a tragedy for the baby and the mother.

God knows what would drive a mother to dump her baby she obviously needs help.
Equally both mother and daughter are now seperated and the chils may grow up not knowing her real family. Thank god she is safe

How very, very sad. I hope that baby's going to be alright, and that the mother hands herself in. Even if she doesn't need any physical treatment, she must have a lot of worry about something to've done such a thing.

Apparently, a teenage girl. Who knows what state of mind the mother must have been in to do this. She at least had wrapped the babe up well. Poor girl, please don't be too hard on her - we just don't know the circumstances.

I'm so glad the baby was wrapped in a blanket & found in time....

I do feel for the mother too & hope the reasons she left her new born daughter alone in freezing weather, will be sorted out & that they will be happily reunited......

No we do not yet know all the circumstances of this tragic affair, but what we do know is that this is not an unusual case, in so much as a new born innocent baby was left to die, out in the freezing cold.

These cases happen all the time but we never seem to hear what happens to the Mother. We hear plenty of support coming from various sources, even appeals from the police for the mother to give herself up, because she may be in need of urgent medical attention.Who cares these mothers should be charged with attempted murder, and punished by the full force of the law.

If it was the father who dumped it, his feet would not touch the floor before the law and every woman in the country would be down upon him, calling for all sorts of vile punishment to be rained down on his head.
