8 yeaqrs seeems harsh in comparison to sentences givn for more heinous crimes. Whatever the outcome the lives of her children will be scarred. It is best they stay in family care with relatives as foster care does not guarantee protection , that the children will remain together, consistency and it only lasts til 16.Inspite of all it does not appear the family were known to social services before this so there are aspects of her parenting taht worked. /It is a tragedy for the whole family

I heard yesterday that with time in remand, and any time reduced for good behaviour, the woman could be out of prison in about 3 years. I hope she's forced to take good parenting lessons, because she's been an appalling apology for a mother so far, but the children are probably missing her dreadfully. If that's all they've ever known, the trauma of fostering them out seperately, to possibly a variety of "homes" could have a devastating long-term effect. Hope that as pink says, family members are allowed to look after them, with a proviso that regular checks are made. Very sad & unpleasant case.

in can't believe she will only serve 3 years! she wasn't satisifed with her state handouts and thought of anotherway to get money for nothing (like she had been doing for the rest of her life) State handouts encourage people to commit crimes as it gets this chav scum used to getting money for nothing. As for Ms Mathews an her peado boyfriend I am sure she will be on the wrong end of a pan of boiling water thanks to some of her fellow mates, go get her girls xx

So now you know- if it's a choice between hiding your daughter for gain or Rape and Disfigurement of a Mentally handicapped girl, there's not much to choose between 'em.
