Well its on the news, a donner has a days worth of salt and 1000 calories (dont know if that includes the portion of chips to go with)

Are these people serious? Did anyone in the land actually think they were healthy ?

They do seem to have forgoten that most kebabs are consumed after 10 pintrs of beer so the calories is not quite so significant, add the that the fact most end up as pavement pizzas so are not digested just what is their point?

What do ABers prefer 70 years of riotus fun living or 100 years of abstenance and hell (a muslim life)

Well thanks for the warning mate, I'll stick with deep fried mars bars from now on, with a side salad obviously!
1000 calories!

Seriously I had no idea it was *that* much

That's 2 big macs!

r u a sweraty then R1?
no I'm not a sweraty or even a sweaty but everyone on here will tell you how fond of our beskirted neighbours I am!
1000 calories isn't really 'that much' really. I mean, if you don't eat anything for the rest of the day and then have a large kebab and chips for dinner...you'd end up
losing weight.

...probably.

Appologies R1 - it was the fried mars bar bit !

Right I'm off for my donner(and hold the slaad), will decide later whether to rent it or keep it.

Not that much? I see

Watch how much energy is in a mini doughnut at about 60 calories

Burning a doughnut in liquid oxygen
the calories decrease with every bit of lettuce you add so dont panic
and that's just the doughnut hole, according to the heading, jake. I wonder if that's more energy than the holes in my socks?
Must be vacuum energy!

No wonder the universe is expanding!
My local chip shop owner - Mr Papadapulus - assures me , it's ok , so long as you only have a cone and not a large serving of chips with it .
A kebab contains salad, meat and bread. Thats your 5 a day, protein and carbs. This is a well rounded meal.

As SP1814 points out it can be combined into a healty diet if treat it as your 'main meal'.
I can honestly say I've never been tempted into a kebab shop - even for a bag of chips!

I often wonder how long they've been going round & round on those spits & how many flies have cr@pped on them!
Give me a good old English fish & chip shop any day!
Actually, if you stick to a chicken kebab without the garlic sauce, you'd actually be eating a very healthy meal. Low carbs and high protein. But I wouldn't listen to me - I believe that a glass of wine contributes to your five pieces of fruit a day...cox it's made out of grapes.
I can honestly say I have never had a doner sober. However, after 10 pints they are ambrosia - utterly gorgeous.

I have mine with just meat and lots of chilli sauce.

The only thing I don't like is waking up the following morning with bits of chilli sauce under my fingernails!
I have always wondered who or what the doner was. Indeed I very much doubt that it was a voluntary donation.

Never mind the calories. Health department research in Australia found that the vast majority of kebabs served during the peak times of day are made with grossly undercooked meat.

We imported a lot of great culinary traditions from around the world. The doner kebab wasn't one of them.
