What do you all think about the new casino regulations that are about to come into force in the UK? It's just that I work for a company that stands to make quite a lot out of it, but just wanted to know what the general concensus was.

What are the laws to be Georgit? Sorry not heard of this since they were talking about opening a mini las vegas in Blackpool.

I don't have a problem with them or the new alcohol licencing laws which come in at the same time.

The Gambling and Alcohol abuse groups do though.

Basically the government is about to introduce a new Gambling Bill which will liberalise gaming. Lots of people are worried that this will create huge debt and more addicts.

The mini Las Vegas is part of this, ICEMANSAV. The idea is for Blackpool to be the Atlantic City of the UK.

I'm not keen myself. The Australian's relaxed the law in a similar way and now has a major gambling problem. It's not that I think it's morally wrong per se, but I suspect it is likely to increase social problems.

I agree that it might cause social problems, but it is fairly inevitable that by relaxing the laws more jobs will be created by the casinos, mind you saying that more will be lost with gambling addiction. What do you do Georgit how will your company prosper from it? I think in terms of Blackpool it might clean the image of the town as it was dented after the beach reports!

I love going to the horse's and also have a membership for most casino's in London so im all for more casinos. Dont have an attiction though,

its just a shame the government is lying through its ******* teeth about the way it has gone about this. The whole thing stinks of corruption, especially that dodgy cow tessa jowell, I have never seen anyone lie so badly on national tv and not get nailed. The amount of ******** double speak the goverment is throwing out is unbelievable, so much so that joe average cant be bothered to consider it through.

 

A bill designed to regulate, that increases the number of casinos and gamblers. A bill that opens up unrestricted gambling, and the govt claims the number of gambling addicts will not go up. A bill to regulate gambling which the govt, conveniently, has not set the tax rate for, so when it is in the public eye as it is now, they can say its not about money, but when it sails through parliament already having been debated, it will be too late for this to be a factor.

 

As I have said, the whole thing stinks of corruption and people being lied to and deceived by this goverment again. ******* jowell and her ****** low brow publicity shots, basically sold herself out to the money men and the 'lobbying' cough cough from the US gambling industry. *******

With all the hype in the newspapers about casino's being wrong I can only conclude that they are worried about people switching from betting on horses to betting in casinos? Will it affect newspaper sales in the future as they are aware that people buy their papers for information on horses and races? I don't see the difference between betting on horses or gambling in a casino! Maybe if there was not a ban on casino advertising and the newspapers could financially benefit from casino advertising I think they would be singing a completely different tune!
