I follow the threads posted by this gentleman with interest, but I have to say - and have said before, that they do seem to follow a distinct pattern -
AOG seems to scour the press for instances of Muslims committing almost any crime he can find, whereupon he posts a link on here, and then gets stroppy with anyone who fails to agree with him, citing them as either
a) humourless
b) left-wing
c) namby-pamby pacifists
d) rude to him
I have personally ticked all those boxes at various times - sometimes two or more!
Does anyone else agree that AOG is a gentleman of a certain age who feels his grievences against other nations and faiths are legitimate, based on his wartime experiences, but that he displays a curmudgeonly aproach to anyone who attempts to debate his points, or take a different stance?
Maybe he needs to accept that the world has changed, and is changing, and that just because people don't rant and rave about aspects of the law which defend foreigners as well as citizens does not make them a bunch of lilly-livered lentil-steamers who would allow the country to be taken over tomorrow.
Tolerance is a wonderful thing AOG - what do others thing?
BTW - I apologise in advance to AOG if he takes offence at this post, although if he does, it rarther proves my point.

it's a shame that he never seems to find anything to be happy about. I hope I don't turn into such a bitter, miserable old person with nothing good to say about anyone!

I know what you mean, although I don't think we fought the Muslims in WW2 in fact they fought with us in our Indian detachments.
He inspires response and debate which is grist to the mill on this site.
Personally, I can agree with you on one thread and dsagree with you on another, I can be called all sorts of names and not let it phase me in the slightest and yet still find scope to agree on another thread.
AOG is to News what Legend is to Chatter Bank.
I don't think you're any of those things Andy.xx

Absolutely 123everton - I find myself in broad agreement with some posters, and then we diametrically disagree, but ...
we always do it in a spirit of respect for each others' views, and can agree to differ. I simply find AOG gets very upset with people who see things differently, and they often find themselves ******** as weak / lefty / liberal / peaceniks ... and so on.
Debate is fine and healthy - hostility towards disagreement is not.

Yes, but so what? If he says anyything reportable, then report it. Otherwise he's got as much right as anyone else to say whatever he likes on here.

First may I say the reason I choose most of my posts is because most of them highlight what is really happening in this country, due to total apathy of the politicians and a large proportion of the population.
One of the reasons why some of the electorate are fed up to their back teeth, is the fact that our politicians tend to pander to the minorities rather than to the majorities.
Consequently the electorate are beginning to look for alternatives. Hence there are now many who only a few years ago were staunch Labour or Conservative, but are now admitting they will vote for the BNP at the next elections.
Re. a spirit of respect for each others' views,
Where have you been reading andy? the language between posters on here would make a stevedore blush.
But since some on this site are so verminous towards me, I tend to retaliate and have a go at them. But I have never swore at, or wished anyone dead, like I have had done to me.
Only just recently some posted insults so vile that one of my most ardent opponents (Gromit) was so disgusted that he had the post removed. In fact because Gromit could not seem to answer any of my posts without the obligatory snipe at me, I regret to say my old pal Gromit and I have now parted company.
But please feel free to check and note that it is only after they have been personal, abusive and insulting to me, that I retaliate in a much milder way.

Regarding the subjects of the posts, I think you will find that the one's that receive the most response from ABers on this topic are those appertaining to Muslims, Immigration, gays, politics, street crime etc.etc. in fact these are the very same subjects that reach the headlines of the nations media.
It would seem that I attract lively debate, so much so that if it was not for my posts, this site would be so boring. But please feel free if you don't like what I post just don't read them, or even go to the trouble of answering them. No you can't help yourselves can you?
If I upset you so much then may I suggest that perhaps 'Chatterbox' is more in line with your tastes, eh?

Andy, I can see where you're coming from.
However, I think you're going about this in the wrong way. You see if there's one thing old gits love, it's drawing attention to themselves with all their moaning, whinging and arguing about who they perceive as being the ones to blame for the world's ills. They come onto forums like this and make inflammatory posts purely to see if they can get a rise out of the rest of us. And they just hate it when we ignore them!
