9 Year old predicts the end of the world?

They are always predicting the end of the world arn't they? I seem to remember the last one was around 2003 or 2006 and the newspapers were tying it in with Saddam Hassain and the Irag war, trying to suggest that he had nuclear weapons that he was going to unleash on us all. But perhaps that was just another Labour spin story!

I'd better get a tin hat while the're still going cheap.
Nostradamus predicted the world would end in the year 2000, whilst I think it was the Mayans (the ancient Mexican or Peruvian tribe with that funny stone carving that some believe to be an alien at the controls of a space craft, them) who predicted the world would end in 2012.
But, when we changed over to the Gregorian calendar 12 years never happened, apparently.
The kid's right, we're doooomed.

funny thing is the mayans predicted the end of the world in 2012 but did'nt see the end of their civilisation, so they ar'nt that good.

Thanks for the replies. I knew about the Mayan prophecy, like Dave said, they failed to predict their own demise, so they can't be that reliable!
I guess there will always be someone with a prophecy about the end of days. All I heard was, 9 year old boy/girl predicts global droughts on an unprecedented scale.

The Maya didn't predict the end of the world - that's a popular misconception. The Mayan Long Count calendar ends on 21 December 2012, signalling the dawn of a new era - not the end of the world.
