After more than a decade in power Labour have the nerve to announce this,
Ethnic minority workers suffered most in the Tory recessions,' he told The Independent.
.'Just think of the waste of human potential. Whole communities were abandoned.
'Families where no one then worked for generations.
Over half a million were pushed on to incapacity benefit and forgotten about,' he said.
More people are on benefits since Labour came to power. In fact it is Labour who have encouraged a benefit dependant lifestyle for many.

The motor industry is crying out for help and the sales of new cars have reduced by 50%. However 2 billion was pumped into the motor industry so that some could produce greener cars. But thats for the future if it ever comes. A suggestion by the motor industry was to give consumers 2000 by trading in their old vehicle against a newer one but the government have ignored the plan.
Germany have just done this and the order books are full with the car workers working extra shifts. Not invented here was a slogan and they seem unwilling to copy a sucessful idea, don't they.

BEGINING TO BELIEVE !!!!!!
I have thought this since Blair first came into power.
Blair was ALL talk, with initiatives here, plans there, ideas everywhere, but NOTHING ever got done.
And what about his hollow "tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime".
Did he do ANYTHING about crime except issue the above statement.
Blair (and nu labour) are all talk and little action.

They do take some action, VHG.
They did, after all, introduce the Human Rights Act in1998 (instead of withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights). This did more to tie up the ability of the courts to deal with undesirable elements in the UK than any other single step.
They have introduced various anti-terror laws which have seen the criminalisation of large numbers of the population (but have done nothing to prevent the entry into the UK of practicing, if not convicted, terrorists).
They have encouraged the entry into this country of huge numbers of workers from elsewhere (because industries were desperately short of labour), whilst continuing to pay up to 5 million people to ferry between the pub and the bookies all day.
They have seen a huge increase in under-age pregnancies (almost in direct proportion to the increase in taxpayers money thrown at the problem).
They have presided over an increase in the number of people employed in the public sector (most in the type of non-jobs advertised in The Guardian) and the resultant increase in government borrowing so as to put the countrys financial integrity at risk (even before the recent banking problems).
They have achieved a sharp decline in educational standards in the State sector (despite the improved exam results).
All this takes a lot of effort, so give them some credit where its due!

Its not true they have been idle for all of 12 years. They pumped enormous sums into the health service and teaching professions. They increased pensioner xmas bonuses and the like. They introduced free nationwide travel on the buses for the over 65's. Family tax credits and childrens allowances have shot up.
But its this recent credit crunch calamity where the whole country is affected where so little is being done. I assume the grand plan is worked out and agreed but the administrators seem unwilling or unable to carry it out.
WHAT'S NEEDED ARE SOME PROJECT CHASERS!

The xmas bonus is still 10 , it was the heating allowance that increased partly to compensate for the loss of the 10 per cent tax rate.
The free bus pass is not nationwide I can travel free to Wales on a bus that I get on in England and can travel back from Wales on any bus as long as I get off in England., but I can not use my pass to travel round Wales.
