I strongly doubt whether all Muslims take the Koran as a literal text. Same way that Christians don't believe all they read in the Bible.
Different sections of the Muslim community interpret the Koran completely differently
If a religious group reads a text and take it's meaning literally, then all followers of that religion will (pardon the pun) 'sing from the same hymn sheet'.
If all Muslims interpreted the Koran exactly the same, they would all wear the Abayah, Burqah, Ummah, Pakistani qamees, Indonesian qamees etc etc...
Throughout my working career I've been mates with a number of Muslims, some born here, and some born abroad. I have never had a problem with any of them. Then again, I've been brought up to take people as I find. This is what I expect of others.
You wrote
Islam doesn't hold the monopoly on having filth amongst their community. Indeed it does not. But you cannot justify Islamic violence towards gays or any other group of people by saying, '..well you Christians do it, so... there.
It's a pathetically weak argument to justify anything by claiming that someone else is doing it too; thereby exonerating yourself from blame by drawing an immoral parallel.
No - that's not my point.
I was responding to Gormless' post of 20:41 yesterday. It's wrong to single out one religion and say, "Look they're homophobic" when many of the world's religions, Catholics and CofE are just as bad.
Your analogy about the thief is better reworded as a mugger getting on his high horse about a housebreaker - with non-Muslims being muggers decrying Muslims (housebreakers). People need to get their own house in order before criticising others.
I hate all forms of homophobia but for me to to single out Muslims for what I can see non-Muslims doing would be entirely
