Ofcom said listeners could reasonably have thought the piece was "promoting and condoning certain negative stereotypes based on sexual orientation" as Young is gay.

Eight people complained about the piece, saying Moyles' comments were offensive and derogatory towards the gay community.

On the other hand Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Julian Clary and such, are regularly on the receiving end of jibes at their sexuality, in fact they encourage it, what is the difference?

What Moyles was "guilty" of was simply being cliched, unimaginative, blokeish, and predictable in making tired-out juvenile formulaic jibes at someone for being gay. He was no more being homophobic than Goody was being 'racist' for saying "Shilpa Poppadom". In either case, it was just childish stupidity.

Moyles is well-known for being a walking version of Nuts magazine. He appeals to the laddish, smirking types who make immature cracks about redheads and gays. That's his thing and they're his audience, and he ain't going to change. I find it really tedious and boring and it's just not my thing, but it has its followers.
OMG is this piece in the Express a load of cobblers and of those eight people who complained ,I would say....Get a bloody life!!!!
By the way, another, really enjoy your posts, always interesting.

Well thank you so much, Joy11, but there are many on this site that that are not so kind as you.
Agree with Joy11. Some people (disgusted of Tumbridge) have nothing better to do with their pathetic lives. Don,t listen to the bloody programme if you don,t like it.
Whats wrong with mocking the singer Will Young in a high-pitched, effeminate voice? He has one does'nt he? Was He offended by it,probably not and if he was maybe he should try getting vocal lessons from the teacher that taught "barry white" how to sound like a man.
He wasn't being "offensive" in the way the 8 complainers meant but my god you'd hope we could have broadcasters who don't have to resort to making such pathetic childish stupid snidey comments.
