IMF bosses to get big bonuses?

So the G20 meeting has said:
"To help countries with troubled economies, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will get extra resources worth up to $750bn".

So if the IMF has done so well do you think the bosses of the IMF can award themselves big bonuses?

On a serious note, if all these countries are now broke, who is going to give the IMF all this money?

And even though they are all broke they have said there is an extra 100 BILLION to give to the poorest countries.

I have to say world economics is totally beyond me.

Has Brown pulled a fast one? We all know Britain is in a terrible state with its finances. But just lump it together with those countries also doing badly and using smoke and mirrors create a camouflage. It may be okay to get the IMF to bail us out but as Cameron says the debt will be huge for future taxpayers

The main contributor to the IMF will be the Chinese who have so much money they could bankrupt the USA if they sold their bonds. Also most of these promises are just pledges. If you remember some years ago the world pledged Africa with money but when it came to the push they never received it.

The IMF is a membership organisation, and as such has rules about its running and about its pay structures. It has a board of Governors who oversee its running. The bosses at the IMF cannot award themselves huge pay rises as you suggest they might.

However, it is clear the IMF will be working very hard in the next couple of years, and it is highly likely more staff will be employed.

Contrary to popular belief we are not broke. We have had 25 years of continuous growth in our economy. OK, that has now ended, but we are not suddenly destitute.
