I was just wondering what your guy's opinions on drug policie and regulations are?

I am not in favour of legalisation but definately of decriminalisation, especially with drugs such as heroin, if a user could get a clean supply administered from their doctor they could still function perfectly normal and productive lives without the illness and crime associated with this type of drug user at present. Not only would this destroy a harmful pattern of drug use, crime and illness but it would also put many drug dealers out of business - this would in tern reduce the number of people who start taking the drug (as you would need to see your doc first) meaning that drug user levels would either stabalise to some extent or actually decline.

 

The drug has been used widely in pervious centuries and a clean supply is not detrimental to health and does not result in the mind numbing effects that you see from you average junkie these day...

 

with other drugs, the gov should just cash in - they have lost the war on E now over a million people take it every weekend. We in britain smoke more dope than the people of holland, so what is the point of presecuting a 15 year old lad for dealing to his mates - does this hurt society NO does paying for the young chav's incarceration hurt out collective wallet YES...

It is my view that drugs are not the problem at all, many people do heroin and crack and do not pose a problem to society as they keep their addiction to themselves.  The problem is the crime that is related to drugs, by this I don't mean dealers who sell the drugs - I mean who cares if a dealer is shot in a turf war? - but the crimes of addicts that steal and mug innocent people for the money to buy drugs, this is the biggest impact that drugs have on our society.

 

I think that hard drugs should be freely available in the doctors to anyone who walks in off the street, no stigma attached, a whole month's worth, "here you go son, now  f*** off back to noddyland".

 

Say what you like about that one, but at least your grandmother would be able to go out late at night without getting mugged or her house robbed.

 

BTW, I have friends who are heroin addicts and I don't want to see them die but as anyone in the same situaton knows, you can't help them if they won't help themselves and if they do want to help themselves then they will stay away from heroin whether it is available from the doctors or not.

I hate people who take drugs.  Like the police and customs.

Whilst I agree that there are many people who can take drugs and you wouldn't know they did, there are many more who would not be able to handle it. Look at alcohol and the problems we have with drunkeness - many people enjoy the odd drink now and then, but many ruin their lives with alcohol.

 

While it's difficult/impossible to ban alcohol now, recreational drugs are illegal and I think that on the whole it's better that they remain that way.
