My little one's school are having a St Georgie's Day theme today as St George was vetoed but the teacher said nothing was said about St Georgie!!!!

All those who don't want to celebrate may leave the building

Of course, he was born in what is now Turkey.

I have a Turkish neighbour and when my son went round to show them his costume the guy said that's good you are showing pride in your country - not that my 3 year old understood.

I don't object to anyone whatever their nationality I object when we are told we can't celebrate something which is a tradition in our country.

We're having a St George's Day knees up in a local pub.

Outside they've already put up a flag or St George, and inside, they will be serving traditional English pub fare...

...but they also have chefs from two local India restaurants coming down to do their best chicken tikka masala (which is an English dish apparently - doesn't exist in India).

And they have a deal with the local kebab house whereby if you bring a stamped beer mat from the pub, you get a discounted kebab at the end of the night. (an English/Greek tradition)

We were there the other night, and the owner is making it a 'whole community' thing, so as not to exclude anyone.

That is what I can a pretty excellent way to celebrate St. George's Day.
